New Super Mario Bros. Already Sells Half Million In U.S.
The Super Mario Bros. Titles have been key in Nintendo’s sales since the original’s debut in 1985. Although “Super Mario 64 DS” had a lot of added features over the original “Super Mario 64″ it was really intended for analog control and not the DS control set up. Thankfully “New Super Mario Bros.” plays a lot like the original NES and SNES titles which is perfect for the Nintendo DS. Although it almost seems like sort of a step back from full 3D game play it is paying off for Nintendo big time.
In just a little over a month Nintendo has sold over half a million copies of “New Super Mario Bros” in the United States. According to Nintendo this means they have sold 20 games per minute in America since it’s release. In Japan the game has also been a huge success with nearly 1.7 million copies sold.
The game has been rated near perfect by most of the video game media. With each new Mario Bros title there seems to be a perfect blend of simplicity, originality and innovation. It’s clear that as long as Nintendo keeps each new Super Mario game fresh that consumers will keep the franchise alive for a long time to come.

Is great that Mario continues to sell so well, must be massive pressure for developrs of future releases though
