SD Card Slot In Wii Confirmed As One of Wii’s Storage Formats
A door in the front of the Wii console will house a slot for an SD card, one of the means of saving/storing data on the Wii.
The top of the unit has four ports for Nintendo GameCube controllers.
An interview by Game Informer with Nintendo USA President Fils-Aime revealed that the SD card is “one of the memory mediums, and it’s the only one that we’ve announced.”
So one mystery is blown away and another is unveiled.
The flap is for SD cards, but it may not be the only storage medium. What else could there be?
External HDD’s would certainly go down well with the fans but we’ll have to wait and see what Nintendo announce in the coming months.

I’m betting there will be an online package sold seprately. It will include a extenal hard drive with a preloaded online game (like Mario Kart) and the Nintendo Classic Wii controller for $80. No hints at this happening just a random guess.
