Motorola H5 Miniblue headset – The next ’small’ thing?
I’ve always had an interest in the latest releases of bluetooth headsets and the new Motorola H5 Miniblue seems to be taking mobility to the next level due to the the small size of the device (click thumbnail for a larger image).
From the Motorola site:
Introducing a revolutionary Bluetooth headset that really works with you.
Designed around the way your body works, the in-ear microphone and speaker of the Motorola H5 MINIBLUE pick up your voice through the ear canal so conversations come in loud and clear – even in a noisy environment.
And measuring only 33 x4 1millimeters this barely-there headset fits perfectly inside your ear for pristine, unobtrusive communication.
This petite powerhouse packs in battery power so powerful – you can chat wire free for up to approximately 7.5 hours using the included portable charging base. It’s amazing how empowering and freeing this device can be!
The thing that always gets me from about these micro headsets is the amount of background noise the small bluetooth headsets without a long microphone boom pick up.
At the end of the day, if your mouth isn’t close to the mic then the mic on the smaller headset pics up your voice and everything else in the background as well.
Now fair enough, its picking up the noice from inside your ear canal! Great right?
Now do me a favour..stick your fingers in your ears and what do you hear?
Me? Well I hear my heart beating, my blood pumping and my half eaten cheese savory digesting whilst slowly being washed down with a fresh cup of hot coffee.
Perhaps not the best thing for a conference call with the big execs, however cool you may think you look.
Ironically, one of the headings on the Motorola website is Let your Body Talk, something tells me they didn’t mean for this to be taken so literally.
There have already been some delays with the launch of the H% due to Audio Quality issues.
Some of the bigger online retailers are already communicating the delays to their customers. Online trader eXpansys said in a note to one of its customers:
Dear Customer,
Unfortunately, Motorola has taken the decision to cancel the launch of the H5 Miniblue Headset (code: 129899) at this time. It has been decided the audio quality of this product has not achieved strict quality guidelines. We will keep you updated on the eXpansys website, when Motorola confirms it’s revised H5 Miniblue release date.
All back orders will be kept on our system, until the H5 Miniblue is available. However, we can offer the Motorola H3 Bluetooth Headset (silver) code: 124372 as an alternative. Please contact any of our sales team on the number below (or by email to sales@expansys.com) to
amend/cancel your order.
Oh Well, Motorola expect to get the headset out during the ‘first half of 2006′, the clocks ticking but if they do manage to work things out I’ll probably still end up buying one:
