Can a 6 year old drive? Yes he can!

Submitted by Head_Monkey on Friday, 9 January 2009No Comment

A 6 year old boy from Wicomico Church, Virginia loved school so much, that when he missed the bus one morning, his first thought was to get a lift to work. Unfortunately his parents were not able to drive him, so he did the next best thing – he drove himself! This is dedication to school gone too far I tells ya…

What I remember from when I was 6 years old, was that things were mighty big. And I’m sure that I would not have been able to see over the steering wheel, let alone reach the pedals AND the wheel at the same time. But this plucky young lad did just that, and managed to drive the family car through morning peak hour and get oh-so-close to school, before crashing into a utility pole.

But did this stop him? Oh no! After he was taken to hospital for a check-up, he was back on his way to school and made it BEFORE first bell. Now if only the rest of the children around here had that kind of dedication, the world would be in a better place.

But where were the parents I hear you ask? Well Dad had gone to work early, which is fair enough. Mum however,  was still sleeping. But where this story goes south is that there is a court order stating that the boy and his brother are not to be left alone in the care of the Mum due to previous “incidents”. Needless to say the boys are “sleeping over” with Foster parents until the matter is resolved.

So, the moral of the story is, if you are going to neglect your kids, at least hide the car keys…
