The Tribeca Ball is one of the biggest parties of the year, bringing out guests a mix of celebs, fashion people and art types like Bill Clinton, Justin Timberlake, Rachel Roy, Fabiola Beracasa and Eileen Guggenheim (in years past).

This year, the event brought together a curious crew with some particularly curious fashion statements. There were the simple styles, like Naomi Watts in an peplumed LBD and Julianna Margulies in a sleek black gown. Then there were the glamour girls, like Jessica White dripping in gold and Carla Gugino in fire-engine red.

And then there were the surprises. We're not sure what dress code Kim Cattrall was following when she showed up looking ready for an office party, in a black pants, a white shirt and a electric blue blazer. Certainly not the same one as Helena Christensen, who donned a floral-trimmed gown with puffy short-sleeves. Between the black lace cami poking out of the neckline and her tiny shoulder-bag, something about the outfit felt very 2003.
