Space Hotel to Open in 2012

BARCELONA (Reuters) – A company behind plans to open the first hotel in space says it is on target to accept its first paying guests in 2012 despite critics questioning the investment and time frame for the multi-billion dollar project.
The Barcelona-based architects of The Galactic Suite Space Resort say it will cost 3 million euro ($4.4 million) for a three-night stay at the hotel, with this price including an eight-week training course on a tropical island.

That would be a hell of a club to be in...hmmm...I wonder what sperm does in space? If they swim in circles then mine would actually go straight, maybe.

Another mad scientist idea...I currently live in Qatar, but prior to that I lived in Dubai where the scope of the imagination was defined by the depth of the pockets of the developers, from huge Palm Island developments, to undersea hotels to the largest indoor ski slope in the Middle east.

Sometimes, just sometimes, it would be nice to see a little realism injected into development...for example "...we are building the biggest offshore man-made island in the world, which will have space for a huge hospital which will treat the majority of known medical ailments...", etc.

And as an aside, who the heck is going to spend that amount of money on a weekend away?
