Poor Prof Hawking has been quite ill of late. I thought the writing might have been on the wall for him - but he looks to be getting better - hurrah!

That's good to hear. He had pneumonia once before and they all thought he would die then too but he pulled through.
He's a great man. I've read several of his books. The world needs more brains like his.

Not a small thing to successfully fight off a "respiratory infection" in his condition. In his shape, any type of respiratory infection pretty much equates to pneumonia. I work in a very large and busy Emergency Department, and I see much healthier people lose that kind of fight every week.
Maybe he has another book, and a theory or two left in him before he is scheduled to depart this earthly plane
