All pictures to be uploaded to Newsgab

Please note, with immediate effect all pictures added to our picture related forums need to be uploaded to our site.

Any pictures over 500k will need to be resized. We recommend the excellent Free Irfanview to assist you with your picture resizing.

We have noticed recently a number of hosts are generating red 'X's when viewing pictures on a more regular basis.

I've taken the decision now to nip this in the bud to ensure that all current and future members can enjoy all the images you guys are taking the effort to add on a daily basis.

About those red X's, does that mean the image is owned by someone else???
Please forgive my ignorance but I really want to know.
If I take a capture I like from a DVD and pass that along...does it mean I'm stealing someones intellectual property?

One more thing...when I back up a picture file to disk and then try to reload it I get those red x's. They weren't there before I saved the file to make room on my hard drive.

I have a serious question here about content and international law.

In the UK, it would be perfectly legal for me to post a picture of a 16/17 year old starlet, as above 16 it's considered okay. Although really for good taste, 18 is considered the right age for such things.

But in the US, I know the age for a lot of things is 21. What I'm trying to avoid is say putting up a picture of say Emma Watson (who's 19) naked, only to find I'm considered a sex offender in the US.

It depends on the state what age is legal, but 18 is considered non-child-porn.

Please keep any nude pictures to subjects over 18 please. It is in the faq and I quote: "Any posts containing images or media relating to child porn / sex with a minor (under 18) will result in an instant ban from this site."

That is the world wide excepted age on the net for nude subjects. Though apart from Emma's slip on her 18th birthday all others would be fakes most likely.

Not to state the obvious but it goes by the age in the pic not what they are now.

I've always heard 16 for non-nudes, 18 for nudes.

Ah there it is - I was looking for this today, as I was sure I'd read it somewhere (also what source material can and can't be posted). Mainly it was curiosity over the whole rights over what was the legal age, as in the US I thought it was mainly 21 ...
