It was less than 2 weeks ago that Joe got out of a sticky federal tax evasion case by copping a plea and avoiding prison.

Joe told TMZ, "I have no idea what it is." He says he does not owe the money and, "This is total retaliation for me beating them in court." Joe says the law the IRS is using hasn't been used against anyone in 20 years.

Forbes looked at 100 top actors based on their widely released films over the past five years. It factored in the production costs of those movies against how much boxoffice, DVD and other revenue they generated in order to come up with an operating income for each film, which it then compared with the salaries the stars earned.

In Ferrell's case, the actor's films earned just $3.29 for every dollar he was paid. That's a pretty poor contrast to the $160 that Shia LaBeouf's movies returned to the studios for every buck he earned.

That figure, by the way, put LaBeouf -- who starred in "Transformers" in 2007 and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" in 2008 -- at the top of Forbes list of Best Actors for the Buck. Also included on that list were Robert Downey Jr., Christian Bale and Dennis Quaid.

"Land of the Lost," a boxoffice dud starring Ferrell as an offbeat scientist, racked up about $100 million in production costs, not including marketing, but only returned $65 million at the worldwide boxoffice. His movie "Semi-Pro," which earned $44 million at the worldwide boxoffice, has also dragged down Ferrell's return-on-investment performance lately.

No. 2 on the overpaid actors list is Ewan McGregor, who made a slew of poorly performing movies after playing Obi-Wan Kenobi four years ago in "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith." McGregor's films earned $3.75 per dollar he was paid.

The third most overpaid actor is Billy Bob Thornton, whose recent films include "Eagle Eye," "Mr. Woodcock," "The Astronaut Farmer" and "The Informers."

As for Michael's reaction to the family, she says he understood that their motives were "out of love," but adds, "You can't make 'em drink the water. In the interview, the singer also makes no qualms about who she believes is responsible for Michael's death in June.

"I think [Dr. Conrad Murray] is responsible. He was the one administering," she says, referring to Michael's personal physician. According to TMZ.com, Tequila is seeking damages for assault, battery, false imprisonment and emotional distress.

Tequila's lawyer, Cyrus Nownejad, cites photos showing bruises Tequila allegedly suffered from the incident at Merriman's home.

Merriman was arrested after Tequila signed a citizen's arrest warrant accusing Merriman of battery and false imprisonment. Both are felonies.

Dumanis decided not to charge Merriman after her office spent three days reviewing reports from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

"After a thorough review of the investigation into the Sept. 6, 2009, incident at the Poway home of Shawne Merriman, our office has determined there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that any crime was committed," Dumanis said in a statement. "This case is now closed. No further comment will be made."

Tequila, whose real name is Tila Nguyen, is best known for "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila," which ran for two seasons on MTV. The bisexual dating show featured men and women vying for Tequila's affections. She has also modeled for Playboy and other men's magazines.

Comedian Ken Ober, best known as the host of MTV's "Remote Control, " died on Sunday, November 15, 2009 in Santa Monica, California. Ober was 52.
He was the the MTV generation's Alex Trebek.

Ken Ober, host of the '80s game show "Remote Control" has died at 52, his representative confirmed to MTV News.

While the cause of his death was not available at press time, Lee Kernis of Brillstein Entertainment Partners, who represented Ober, said the cause was unknown.

According to the rep, friends said Ober was not feeling well over the weekend and had a headache and flu-like symptoms and didn't meet them as planned. An autopsy is planned.

"Remote Control" debuted in 1987 and Ober hosted for five seasons which, along with "Club MTV" and "The Week In Rock," was MTV's first foray into series television.

The show tested kids' knowledge of pop-culture on a set that bore a strong resemblance to any suburban basement. Ober would stand behind a lectern and next to a giant TV screen, would ask questions about celebrities, movies, TV shows and music videos.

"Remote Control" helped launch the careers of Adam Sandler, Denis Leary and Colin Quinn, who act out sketches doubling as quiz questions.

Has Aerosmith truly called it quits after nearly 40 years of chart-topping rock 'n' roll?

Three months after frontman Steven Tyler broke his shoulder in a plunge from the stage in South Dakota, resulting in the cancellation of the band's remaining 2009 tour dates, various media outlets are reporting that Tyler has quit the band.

In a story posted Friday by the Las Vegas Sun, the group's lead guitarist, Joe Perry, said, "Steven quit, as far as I can tell. I don’t know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely, or whatever.”

"I don’t want him canceling any more gigs," Perry told the Sun.

The Boston-bred quintet, which has been a hard-rock hit-making machine since 1970 and a pioneering maker of music videos, has endured some obstacles since its last studio album, 2004's "Honkin' on Bobo." In May 2008, Tyler checked himself into a rehab facility, explaining in a press release that he wanted a "safe environment" in which to recover from several foot surgeries. Numerous concerts were postponed or cancelled.

Nevertheless, Tyler said in the statement, "Aerosmith has no plans to stop rocking. There’s a new album to record, then another tour.”

Perhaps not. Since then, Tyler, 61, has persued a solo project that, as he told the British magazine Classic Rock, will "be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself -- Brand Tyler.” He went on to mention that there may have been animosity in the Aerosmith ranks over the fact that he was working with a new management company separate from the band.

Now it appears that he wants a full-time career separate from the band. Facts are skecthy, but Fox News reported that the members of Aerosmith not named Tyler (Perry, guitarist Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton, and drummer Joey Kramer) plan to meet to discuss whether replacing him is in the best interest of the band. Perry, who also has a steady solo career, seems ready to dump his batterymate. He told the Las Vegas Sun that the band will probably find someone to fill in for the legendary singer, whose elastic mouth and onstage energy have defined the group as much as its sound. The 50-year-old musician stormed off stage last night after being hit in the eye with a bottle while performing in Liverpool.

It comes just three weeks after he was rushed to hospital after collapsing on-stage in Swindon.

Morrissey opened last night's concert with the words, 'It's Saturday, it's Liverpool, it's raining, it's perfect', before launching into the Smiths' hit This Charming Man.

He had shown no signs of the respiratory illness which saw him spending the night in hospital on October 24.

But during his second song, Black Cloud, he stepped forwards to the front of the stage to shake the hands of fans when a plastic bottle of beer was hurled at him.

The singer stood up and said 'goodnight' to the stunned 8,000-strong crowd before walking off stage.

His fans then burst into chants of 'Morrissey, Morrissey. Morrissey' in an effort to get the performance back on track.

But about five minutes later, an announcement was made to a chorus of boos that he had been hit on the head and would not be resuming the concert.

Iain Kavanagh, 33, from Liverpool, said: 'Some people were complaining afterwards because he's been in the game for years and he should be used to it by now.

'But he's a 50-year-old man who has just been ill and he deserves better than that.'

Staff at the Echo Arena, where the concert was being held, said Merseyside Police have been informed about the incident.

The venue's general manager, Tim Banfield, added that the fan who threw the bottle ruined a brilliant night out for thousands of music lovers.

'We are exceptionally disappointed that one individual should choose to recklessly cause the concert to be abandoned, ruining what should have been a brilliant night out for thousands of Morrissey fans,' he said.

'The Echo Arena team take great care to ensure the safety of visitors and artists at the venue.

'However it appears that one person was determined last night to throw an object at the stage with the intention of causing as much disruption as possible.'

Mr Banfield said he will now review all food and drink arrangements 'to tackle the small minority who appear incapable of behaving in a responsible manner'.

Concert-goers have been advised to contact their ticket retailer to find out if they will get their money back.

According to TMZ, Carrie Prejean demanded more than a million dollars during her settlement negotiations with Miss California USA Pageant until the Pageant lawyer presented her with a XXX sex tape of which she is the star.

The video has never been released and is apparently so graphic, not even TMZ would play it.

Apparently it took her about 15 seconds to withdraw her demands and accept a $100,000 payout, all of which covers the cost of her lawyers, leaving her with nothing.
Prejean sued Miss California USA organizers in August for libel, slander and religious discrimination. She accused them of telling her to stop mentioning God even before her controversial remarks against gay marriage.
Prejean was fired in June after pageant officials accused her of missing events, an allegation that she denied. The pageant countersued Prejean last month.
The statement says Prejean and the pageant "wish each other the best in their future endeavors."

The life of Vince Lombardi — one of the Seven Blocks of Granite at Fordham, the coaching saint, the mahatma of Green Bay — is the subject of a new play, and its producers plan to bring it to Broadway late next year.

There will be no singing or dancing, no crooning Lombardi, no “Damn Packers.”

“It’s 40 years since he last coached and that’s part of the reason we’re doing this,” said Eric Simonson, who is adapting the play from “When Pride Still Mattered,” David Maraniss’s 1999 biography of Lombardi. “His name is on the Super Bowl trophy. But who is the guy? There’s something about his character that reflects America.”

The producers’ plans to stage “Lombardi” will be announced Monday.

Lombardi revived the Packers’ franchise after his arrival in 1959, and led the team to five N.F.L. titles and victories in the first two Super Bowls. He made his players hate him and love him, favored the power sweep, became the tough-minded icon of coaching success and the embodiment of the quotable leader.

Simonson, a Packers fan who grew up near Milwaukee, said, “What really attracts me is there are parts that make up Lombardi that people really don’t know about, like how his Jesuit education informed his coaching.”

Sports-themed Broadway shows are not common. There have been successes like “Damn Yankees” and “The Great White Hope” and Tony Award winners like “Take Me Out” and “That Championship Season.” But there have been flops like “The First,” about Jackie Robinson, and “Requiem for a Heavyweight.”

Robert LuPone, director of the New School for Drama, said it was nearly impossible to replicate athletic contests on stage, so sports plays and musicals needed to offer compelling human stories with universal themes.

“Lombardi’s a great choice,” he said. “He’s kind of mythical character you can glean lots of drama from.”

Elizabeth Bradley, who is chairwoman of the drama department at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, said that a nonsports fan needed to feel that the play’s quality transcended the subject enough to spend more than $100 for a ticket.

Tony Ponturo, one of the producers, said, “We have to be true to those who want good dramatic works like ‘God of Carnage’ and ‘August: Osage County’ while exciting the sport and N.F.L. fan.”

It would probably help ticket sales if a well-known actor were to portray Lombardi.

“It can be a star vehicle,” said Fran Kirmser, a producer who, like Ponturo, is also a producer of “Hair.” She added, “As the word gets out about this, we’ll take it as it comes.”

Ponturo brings a sports background to “Lombardi.” As the vice president for global media and sports marketing at Anheuser-Busch, he decided where the beermaker invested its huge advertising and sponsorship budget. He recently discussed what the league could do for “Lombardi” with N.F.L. Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Although Broadway is new turf to the N.F.L., marketing a figure like Lombardi is familiar territory. “He’s what the N.F.L. is all about,” said Tracy Perlman, the league’s vice president for entertainment, marketing and promotions.

The N.F.L. could boost ticket sales simply by giving the play a spot on NFL.com to promote itself. “Does it mean a licensing agreement, a partnership or a marketing agreement?” she said. “We’re in the early stages.”

The idea for “Lombardi” came to Ponturo and Kirmser in his Manhattan office in May when they discussed collaborating on a sports play. Kirmser said she saw his replica of the Lombardi Trophy that was awarded to the St. Louis Rams for winning the Super Bowl in 2000; he had it in his Anheuser-Busch office in St. Louis when he retired last year.

“It was just staring back at us,” she said.

He added, “We knew what we had to do.”

Kirmser and Ponturo called Maraniss, who said he would only work with Simonson, who had a substantial jump-start on dramatizing Lombardi: he had already written “Lombardi/The Only Thing,” a play produced in 2007 by the Madison Repertory Theatre.

Simonson said that the Broadway-bound play would be a closer adaptation of Maraniss’s biography than the earlier one, a metaphysical flight of fancy that was inspired by George Bernard Shaw’s “Man and Superman.” It found Lombardi, at one point, working through a crisis through a hallucination.

Simonson said that when Ponturo and Kirmser asked him to write the new Lombardi play, he told them, “I could write five plays about him.” Simonson, a writer and director for the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago, said he was unfazed by the challenge of writing a sports-oriented drama for Broadway.

“I’ve been working in theater for 25 years, and I’ve been a Packer fan all my life,” he said. “I have a good idea of what a theater audience is looking for, and I know what’s going on in the mind of a typical Packer fan.”

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- The sudden end to a legal battle between dethroned Miss California USA Carrie Prejean and pageant officials was prompted by the revelation of a "sex tape," according to a source familiar with the lawsuits' settlement.

Prejean was fired in June after lingerie-modeling photos of her emerged that pageant officials said were a breach of her contract. Prejean sued the pageant in August, arguing her firing was religious discrimination because of her opposition to same-sex marriage.

Pageant officials countersued last month, demanding their former beauty queen repay $5,200 in pageant money spent for her breast implants and give them all proceeds from a book she's written.

A settlement of both lawsuits was signed in New York Tuesday, but no details were made public. Lawyers and parties for each side were bound by a confidentiality pledge, according to the source.

The veil of secrecy was partially lifted Wednesday after celebrity gossip Web site TMZ reported the deal was sealed after pageant lawyers presented an "extremely graphic" home video involving Prejean.

TMZ Managing Editor Harvey Levin said during a webcast Wednesday that he obtained the Prejean video during the summer, but found it "too racy" to post on his site. He indicated Prejean was alone in the video.

The source with knowledge of the settlement talks told CNN those details were accurate.

Prejean's lawyer, Charles LiMandri, responded with a short statement issued through an employee at his law office. "It's a confidential settlement, and he can't discuss it," the statement said.

Several calls and e-mail to Prejean's publicist were not returned Wednesday.

Prejean's tell-all book hits bookstores next week, and she is scheduled for media interviews to promote it.

Pageant spokesman Kenn Henman said Tuesday the settlement means all lawsuit demands are dropped.

The pageant had claimed that the contract she signed when she entered their competition last year gave the pageant the rights to anything she wrote. The settlement ended that claim.

Pageant officials also dropped their attempt to be repaid for her breast enhancement, which was done before she represented California in the Miss USA competition, according to Henman.

Prejean, in exchange, withdrew her suit accusing the pageant of violating her privacy by confirming to reporters that her breasts were enhanced, Henman said.

"We are moving forward from the past and looking towards the crowning of two winners and the new look of the upcoming Miss California USA pageant, telecast live on November 22," pageant Executive Director Keith Lewis said Tuesday.

"We're back in the business of beauty," he told CNN.

There was nothing pretty about the public fight that began in April when Prejean, 22, stepped into controversy by declaring her opposition to same-sex marriage while answering a judge's question at the Miss USA pageant. Prejean finished as first runner-up.

While state and national pageant officials publicly supported her initially, their opinions eventually changed after she continued to make public statements about same-sex marriage.

She held onto her crown through May, despite a series of questionable photos that emerged on gossip Web sites. Those images showed a topless Prejean, photographed from behind.

She was dethroned in June by Miss USA pageant owner Donald Trump amid growing complaints by state officials that she was uncooperative and not meeting her contractual obligations.

Prejean filed her lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court in August, claiming that her firing was religious discrimination because of her stand against same-sex marriage.

RLINGTON, Texas (CBS/CBS11) Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Whitney Isleib has inadvertently stepped into a Halloween controversy by reportedly dressing up as soon-to-be incarcerated rapper Lil' Wayne in black-face.

Photos of the blonde-haired cheerleader turned hip-hop impresario were posted to Facebook and eventually made their way to sports blog Deadspin.com.

Offensive or just plain fun? Dallas fans are split.

"If she wasn't a Dallas cheerleader would it really matter? It's Halloween, you know. You get to go how you want to go" Cowboys fan Laura Pyhrr told CBS 11 Dallas at Sunday's game.

Another fan was less sure.

"I'm assuming you would hold yourself up to a higher standard - especially if you're playing for the Cowboys. But wow, not much I can say about that - it speaks for itself" said fan Richard Vasquez.

No one from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders or the team would officially comment, but a team spokesman told us the team is aware of the situation and addressing it internally.

Isleib was not available for comment following Sunday's game.
