The Vatican has condemned The Twilight Saga: New Moon, a Hollywood teen film about vampires and werewolves, as “dangerous” and morally empty. Hello welcome to real life. Aren't 99% of all movies empty?

New Moon is the long-awaited sequel to the highly successful Twilight film of last year, and opens in Britain today.

It tells the story of a vampire who breaks the heart of a high school student, Bella (Kristen Stewart). She finds solace with her werewolf friend, before travelling to Italy to pursue the vampire (Robert Pattinson).

The film, above, contained “an explosive mix” of good-looking protagonists dabbling in the supernatural, said Monsignor Franco Perazzolo of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Culture. The film’s occult imagery represented a “moral void more dangerous than any deviant message”, he said.

At the Los Angeles premiere of New Moon this week, thousands of fans screamed and waved signs for their favourite actors.

The films are based on a series of books by Stephenie Meyer, which have sold 85 million copies worldwide.

My wife and I went to see this, because we like Jim Carrey and the CG looked very nice in this film. Little did I know that I have been softened up by all the Mickey Mouse, Muppets, Flintstone versions of this story that it wasn't a child's story. This movie was, I think, the best representation of Charles Dickenson's book available. Bear in mind this isn't a childs movie as it says PG and its by Robert Zemekes. I was surrounded by children and after the movie over half of them were freaked out by the images and confused by the language. Here is the reason, the ghosts of Jacob Marley and Christmas Future are freaky and haunting, nothing to an older person but crazy to a kid. At one point Jacob's bottom jaw unhinges and hangs loose like it was about to fall off, kind of discusting but nothing I couldn't take I guess. That was the images, but the language would be the kicker. My wife isn't as much of a geek as I am and slightly understands ol' English terminology. There was quite a few yondists, thou, nigh, neartih and various other -ists and -iths. Very hard for a kid to understand, and one let down for me was that it wasn't very funny, although in retrospect I don't see why it should have been with it being from the book. Yet again I was refering back to my childhood of Mickey Mouse and the thought of Jim Carrey, gave me the idea of humor. Although there were some laughs in it, it wasn't that hilarious, all that being said and I wouldn't recommend it for any kid under the age of 13 or 14, I liked it very much. As I said earlier, it was the best representation of the book that I have seen. I give it 8 out of 10. Thanks and have a good day everyone.

I had the pleasure to see this movie in our new theater in town and it was nice, and the movie was good also. As far as global destruction movies go, this is good for par. Roland Emmerich who destroyed Washington DC in Independence Day, and froze the Washington DC in The Day After Tomorrow, which is playing ever 2mins on FX, decided that a few buidlings blowing up and freezing wasn't enough. He needed whole cities sliding off their continental shelves and into the ocean creating massive tidal waves, and dormant volcanos erupting with huge devastation. Action is spot on with this and as always in his movies there are querky moments that are goofballish but all in good fun. This is a good action, suspense type movie but the morals that they try to give might as well have fallen into the deep casyms that the Earth created in this movie, because it was too little too late in my opinion. OH YEAH! there is always a dog in his movies that always seems to elude certain death, i.e. Boomer with Indepndence Day, Budda the homeless man Luther's dog, and now Ceaser, the rich Russian's dog. Nice trend here. over all I give it 7 1/2 stars out of 10.

Saw this on DVD a couple of days ago. Overall it is entertaining, but definitely not a "great" movie. In fact, it starts out very cheesy with Ashton Kutcher narrating in Ferris Bueller fashion. Except he comes across as a huge doucher. However, the movie quickly improves as we soon get several sex scenes with Anne Heche naked. :thumbup At 40, she is still rockin. You also see some other hot females naked, which helps keep the show entertaining, as I said. Overall, the sex scenes and nudity aren't overdone to the point where it turns into a porno. And Ashton Kutcher's character improves as the movie progresses. I just never can get used to his suspenders and rolled up jeans.

Warning, spoiler below:

Another thing the movie does right is it doesn't try to give you the cliche, expected love story finish.

The movie is about a man (Gerard Butler) who watched an evil bastard kill his wife and daughter. He might have raped them too but after they was dying or dead. So the justice system (Jamie Foxx) makes a deal with the killer to get his accomplice for the murders. That's right the guy who only robbed them was sent to death row because Foxx made a deal with the real murderer.

So jump ahead ten years the robber is on the table things go and he dies in a very painful death. I thought all right we might have something here. Next up the murderer is killed by being cut into many pieces.

So more killings and more killings and I'm thinking this is good, we have a new V for Vendetta movie.

But wait Hollywood can't finish a wet dream. Foxx figures out how he is doing it and stops him. The every one that needed to die the most gets off and gets a promotion.

IT SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It done a few things good but in the end it undone the good things in a big way. I hated it, wait for it to come out on TV.

Review in a Hurry: Awkward-humor auteur Wes Anderson, Oscar-winner George Clooney, and Willy Wonka creator Roald Dahl come together for a stop-motion...

Review in a Hurry: Awkward-humor auteur Wes Anderson, Oscar-winner George Clooney, and Willy Wonka creator Roald Dahl come together for a stop-motion animated feature that doesn't seem like it should make any sense at all—but it totally does. Fantastic, indeed.

The Bigger Picture: Fantastic Mr. Fox is one-of-a-kind and one of the year's best, though it definitely has echoes of other themes that are currently prevalent.

Like Up, it has animals that speak English, yet can suddenly, abruptly revert to idiosyncratic animal behavior, usually to humorous effect.

Like Where the Wild Things Are, it takes a beloved children's book and stays mostly true to it, while at the same time being very much a piece with the director's unique style and way of looking at the world.

But unlike Wes Anderson's other attempts to branch out—the clunky attempts at action sequences in The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou come to mind—Fantastic Mr. Fox is a rollicking, kid-friendly animated adventure, albeit one full of ironic dialogue and bizarre non sequiturs that will fly over the young'uns' heads.

Our protagonists are anthropomorphic subterranean mammals who live much like people, wearing clothes, holding down jobs and so forth, but also behaving according to their nature, which is to say that Mr. Fox steals and kills chickens from nearby farms. Birds, it seems, aren't anthropomorphic in this world; they're food. And domesticated dogs simply act like dogs, not people. Plus, foxes and badgers speak and write in English that can be understood by humans. Yet it all works. Maybe not super logically under geek-level analysis, but instinctively, on a kid level, sure.

Mr. Fox is voiced by George Clooney, in a casting nod clearly designed to draw mileage from his Ocean's heist movies. Retired from the farm-raiding business after he inadvertently puts his wife (Meryl Streep) in danger, he writes a newspaper column that nobody reads. Hoping to improve his family's life, he stretches his finances to buy a large tree house, but the new place just so happens to be right next door to three of the richest and most nasty farmers in all of...England? It's hard to tell, since all the animals speak like Americans, while the evil farmers, led by a gun-toting bully coincidentally named Mr. Bean (Michael Gambon) remain solidly British.

The book was of course set in Dahl's native country, but the book was also relatively short. Anderson's film adds an entire new third act, as well as a subplot involving the rivalry between Fox's awkward son and his athletic cousin. The Dahl estate are usually control freaks about fealty to the text, so it's interesting (and cool) that they gave this a pass.

While absolutely an Anderson film, it's arguably his most commercial feature to date, and certainly his laugh-out-loud funniest. In many of his movies, the humor is such that you don't quite know if you're meant to laugh or not, while here there is no doubt.

But it does feature many familiar voices from his usual gang: Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, Jason Schwartzman and even Anderson himself does a little voice-acting.

The 180—a Second Opinion: U.K. critics are already fuming about the Americanized elements, so if you're a purist on that level, caveat emptor.

Okay guys,

Here in Belgium the movie 2012 was just released and I decided to go check it out with the girlfriend.

Before the movie:
My expectations were high as I'm the sort of guy that loves movies where the world comes to an end and humanity is threatened. Normally I don't go the cinema a lot but I made an exeption for this one because it runs at 2 hours and 35 minutes and has lots of great special effects which my TV probably can't produce in the same quality as on the big screen.

During the movie (possible spoilers):
Well the movie starts up slow with the usual "getting to know the family" stuff. We get to know the main character and OFCOURSE he's divorced and alone and his wife has found a new guy which we are supposed to dislike but start to like in the end. They got 2 kids too.

Here's where it already goes wrong... KIDS. They are annoying for the whole movie and just scream "DAADDYYY" "MUUMMMMYYYY" etc. Would have loved to see em die during first seconds of the movie.

Anyway, then we get to know why the world is going to end (the scientific dribble).

Then finally the good stuff starts, the world starts to get destroyed. The special effects in this movie are superb. I mean reallllyyyy good and its all awesome but we probably all knew that before watching this movie.

Now what annoyed me during this movie is the following:

**SPOILERS**
The family gets in 3 different planes and 3 times the same thing happens. Everything behind them gets destroyed and they manage to fly of JUST in time (SURPRISE SURPISE).
Also there are car jumps. 3 to be exact and almost exactly the same.
The ground disappears before them and they JUST manage to jump over it with a limo, trailer and a bentley.

Oh, and the president is annoying as hell too.
The whole world is going down and some littel girl is crying and the president goes "I'll find your daddy" and he goes to find the little girls father.
He approaches a paramedic and asks "who do I see for missing persons"...

WTF... the world is exploding around him and he cares about freaking missing persons and people are bleeding and dieing all around him...
If I was that paramedic I would have just hit him in the mouth.
**/SPOILER**

Anyway, the movie was good just for the special effects but the story was totally uninteresting and the family was just plain annoying.

Conclusion:
Go see it if you just wanne see super cool special effects.
Don't go see if you're expecting a good story and an unpredictable story.

I give it a 6/10 (10/10 for visuals).

Movies I liked:
Lord of the rings, Transformers I & II, Independance day, ... (these are all better than this one)

New fantastic trailer for the new movie from the maker of Terminator, Aliens, Titanic, True Lies ... you get the picture.

"Avatar" is about mankind trying to conquer a new planet. For a diplomatic solution they try to use so-called avatars that look like the creatures that already live on that planet (Na'vi): Soldiers (one of them: Sam Worthington from Terminator 4) seem to control their avatars with their minds. As the trailer shows, there seems to be not much diplomacy - the two races fight each other with tech (Humans) against nature (the Na'vi).

The movie wants to be the next big step in 3D movie history and first critics (they saw 15 minutes of the movie) were enthusiastic about what they experienced by watching it.

The first trailer was kind of disappointing - just my opinion. But now the second trailer came out and although it naturally can't deliver us the 3D effect of the real movie, it looks absolutely fantastic:
Now i'm looking forward to it. :)

well finally got to take the kids to the cinema for their first time and have to say the movie was great for and animated film aimed at kids ages.

The director Pete Docter is his second feature length film after Monsters Inc.
i can honestly say its a lot better too the graphics are unreal !

The movie centers around a grumpy old man named Carl Fredricksen ,who flys to South America in a floating house suspended from helium balloons LOL too funny
Carl Fredricksen, a shy and quiet young boy, meets an energetic and outgoing bucktoothed barefooted tomboy named Ellie, discovering they share the same interest in exploration as their hero, the then 24-year-old famed explorer Charles F. Muntz. Ellie expresses her desire to move her clubhouse to Paradise Falls in South America, a promise she makes Carl keep. Carl and Ellie wed and grow old together in the old house where they first met while making a living as a toy balloon vendor and a zookeeper respectively. Unable to have children, they also try to save up for the trip to Paradise Falls but other financial obligations arise. Just as they seem to finally be able to take their trip, Ellie dies of old age, leaving Carl living alone in their home as a sour recluse with nothing to live for and missing his wife terribly. As the years pass, the city grows around Carl's house with construction as Carl refuses to move. After a tussle with a construction worker over Carl's broken mailbox, the court orders Carl to move into Shady Oaks Retirement Home. Carl comes up with a scheme to keep his promise to Ellie, and uses his old professional supplies to create a makeshift airship using tens of thousands of helium balloons that lift his house off its foundations. Russell, a Wilderness Explorer trying to earn his final merit badge for "Assisting the Elderly", has stowed away on the porch after being sent on a snipe hunt by Carl the day before.

Anybody else agree with me?
Also who else thinks that the face of The Possesed Katie looks like Millena from the "Mortal Kombat" Series?

Amelia a Thin Lifetime-y Biopic That Won't Let Swank Soar

Review in a Hurry: Hilary Swank dons more than just a pilot's cap to become Amelia Earhart, legendary '30s aviator and folk hero. But in this careful and bland biopic, the two-time Oscar winner gets—like her latest doomed subject—lost the clouds.

The Bigger Picture: With Amelia, director Mira Nair gives us a version of the world-famous pilot's life that adds up to little more than a ho-hum love story—with some admittedly breathtaking aerial sequences.

In 1928, Earhart was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic—although as a passenger not a pilot. It was all a PR stunt concocted by book publisher and publicist George Putnam (Richard Gere), and a few years later, Amelia (married to Putnum) decides she must make the flight solo to prove it to herself and all aspiring women aviators.

Suddenly, she's more famous than Charles Lindberg and treated to all the sponsors that befit a modern-day celebrity. But here, we're treated to little more than generic montages and lots of '30s-style news reels. Lots and lots of newsreels.

Another problem most historical flicks can encounter is being too enamored with it's subject. Earhart has a minor scandal involving a tryst with Gene Vidal (Ewan McGregor), but a love triangle hardly taints her image—and here it feels strictly Lifetime.

On the plus side, having two-time Academy Award winner Swank as the famous aerial darling—who disappeared over the Pacific Ocean in 1937—ensured at least some level of craft. Despite a recognizable face and stature, she remains a chameleon of the silver screen. Never for a moment do we see Swank; she's always Earhart.

The 180—a Second Opinion: This is strictly a by-the-numbers historical flick, but every now and then Earhart takes to the sky and, for those all-too-brief interludes, Amelia soars.
