All of you are getting into the Nature vs. Nurture issue and the truth is there is no simple answer. Really it is both. From the time a person is born many things are pre-determined from the beginning but those things can be influenced and changed by the environment they grow up in.
This question has existed for over 500 years and still can't be proven what determines what and by how much. We can theorize or guess but in reality it all depends. It has been proven through experimentation with twins separated at birth that genetics determine a persons abilities far more than the environment but this is not a guarantee that it will be all that determines it.
Social capability is actually defined by many elements, upon many different levels, which all can be looked at from different points of view. For instance: How does one define social capability? Through how well they talk to people, how well they handle social changes, how well they can adapt to a societies rules, traditions, religion, ect? Also what society are we talking about? America, Teenager's, Religion, The World? Each of these groups and many more have their own social sub-groups that have their own society defined by people within it.
There are so many factors that go into being socially capable that this general question is far to general to provide a good response to. For America's society for instance a person can be considered socially capable if they get a job, move out on their own, and become self sufficient. However this is not all that makes a person in America socially capable. |
