Counsel was Pong
PC Leisure suit Larry the 1st non VGA one. Wait I guess it would be either Oregon Trail or Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? on Apple II
Not sure what the average age is of the NG users, but I'm 35 and came up on games that you played on your TV like the VES and Atari. The first computer game I remember was probably on the Commodore 64 called Zork. It was a text based game with no graphics. I recently found a link to it that you can play on-line. Other games were Kings Quest I & II Ghostbusters was another that I played on a Tandy 1000....all DOS based. Man, does that make me feel old.![]()

I'm 27, and when I was 9, it was 1990, and Gremlins 2 had just come out. You had to go to each floor and pick up flash cubes (!) and flash the camera at the Gremlins. The problem was there was 40 floors so it took forever to get them all, and there was no "save" option.
Also had Oregon Trail and Where in the US is Carmen Sandiego around that time.
The first game that I can REMEMBER playing was Tekken on the Playstation at my uncle's house

I do recall the great Atari games and Commodore 64 games - now that was cutting edge. And there's something to be said about those old Atari games where the actual game play and fun may have been better than it is today. First game I played was "Pong" but it was called Tennis on a system called Telstar Ranger that featured a gun to shoot images - idea is similar to Buck Hunter you see nowadays. Other great games were Pacman, Space Invaders and Pitfall for Atari. Some of the best Commodore games included Archon, Summer Games and Jumpman.
And don't forget about the awesome Intellivision - those were the best sports games of the time.

shit i remember back when kalekovision or however u spell it that was the king:"donkey kong"
atari:defender
commodore64: mrs. pac-man
I had a Tandy 1000 too it had 64k memory... The first game I played on it was a pirated version of PacMan with a bright green background and purple ghosts. THe best game I could play on the Tandy was Thexter by Sierra. I think Sierra went under just a few weeks ago.
The first good video game that I remember playing was the Donkey Kong Junior arcade game at the fried chicken place down the street. My parents would give me four quarters to play it when I went to pick up chicken. Pretty cheep delivery boy actually.

I am 29 and grew up on Atari and Nintendo. I played Oregon Trail in computer lab back in elementary and middle school. However, I did not purchase my first computer until 1999. The first game I bought, which I still possess, is called "Imperialism". It is a world coquest type game. Fun times![]()
waaaay back - txt based ZORK. Had to type in the commands (lots of guessing) to see if the program would let you do it.

OKAY--no joke. Pong. A single function console of Pong, a gift to me and my older brothers from our dentist uncle. Man, I'm old.

Starcraft anyone? hehe
Pong.1974
Other chronology.
various hand held games 1980-82.
Mattel Auto Race.
electronic basketball.
Fire Away (A60-2121) kind of space invaders rip off from Radio Shack But it was my fave handheld.
Another rip off from Radio Shack Repeat & Pocket Repeat(Simon). It was a color & sound matching game. Very easy at first, but got progressivly harder.
Never owned the following but had use of them for extended periods of time.
Sea battle, b-17 bomber Intellevision. 1980
Colecovision Q-bert, Zaxxon,Smurfs 1982-83
Vectrex but never played much.1983
Tandy 1,000 1986-87
NES 1986-92 Bomber man, mario brothers, Plus many demos at K-mart.
Sega Genesis 1990-92,but never liked the games.
Snes, Lost Vikings, 1992, Super Bomberman 1993
Well it was lost vikings that got me hooked on games, i avoided buying consoles forever, but now it was time. I had to have one.
Howver i couldn't afford it at the trime but Turbografx 16 was on sale for a measly 50 bucks, so i scraped the bottom of the barrel and i was now a true gamer.
First game was none other than kieth Courage! However my next 2 games were much better. Neutopia & Neutopia II, Bonk, Bonk's revenge, Military Madness. 1992
Not too long after the price of Snes dropped significantly and i went all out!
Lost Vikings, Final Fantasy II,III, Star Trek, Aerobiz,Aerobiz Supersonic, PTO, Rock 'n' roll Racing, Super Conflict, Secrets of Evermore, Act Raiser, Breath Of Fire, EVO, Streetfighter II,III. Over time I owned at least 30 games and borrowed twice that many. 1993 and still using.
I also bought Genesis in 1994 because of some exclusive games. Eternal Champions, Shining Force, And Mortal Kombat was better than the snes version.
Sega Saturn 1996. Iron Storm, PTO II, Norse By Norsewest (Lost Vikings Sequel) and 5 other unremarkable games.
Playstation 1 1997. Final Fantasy VII, Tomb Raider I,II,II
N64. 1997 But it was disappointing game wise. Zelda & The Ocarina Of Time, Majora's Mask, Star Wars Pod Racer were the only games i enjoyed.
Sega Dreamcast. With rumours of an improved Iron Storm (Released As Dai Senryaku 2001) And A Shining Force sequel I bit the bullet & Pre-ordered It for Release date Sept 9, 1999. After just only a few games, the support was a flop, It was a waste of money.
Game Cube. 2003. Wind Waker,Twilight Princess, Eternal Darkness, Medal Of Honor Rising Sun, Rebel Strike, Rogue Leader, Tales Of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, Prince Of Persia The 2 Thrones, Beyond Good And Evil, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Mario Kart Double Dash, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
PS-3. 2008. Oblivion, Blazing Angels 1 & 2, Enchanted Arms, Motor Storm, The Force Unleashed.
Next: Final Fantasy XIII, Eternal Sonata, Fallout 3
The first computer game that I played was a RPG that was text based with very little graphics, just some symbols for each room you entered.
The first computer game that I bought was Dungeon Master by FTL. It was a 3D real time dungeon RPG.
Well I'm 37 so I've seen computer games grow as an industry.
I think the first games I can claim to have owned were for the ZX Spectrum, a "Space Invaders" clone, and a memorable "Pac Man" clone called "Hungary Horrace".
Good times ....![]()
