The last really good games to play

Well, for the last couple of years I had absolutely no time to play or even to look throug the latest news on this part of human knowlege

and some days ago I was unlucky to promise to my younger brother to bring him some new and good ones to play. So please if possible post here the names of what you liked and several words of the style and process.

Oh, man...I have no idea where to begin. The past like 3 or 4 years have been great to the gaming industry. Each system has great games enjoyed by people of all ages. I guess to go any further into the subject I'd have to ask a couple questions: Which system are you referring to specifically, if any? What is the age group that your younger brother is in? (kid, teen, adult) What kind of games does your younger brother like? (RPG's, shooters, platformers, etc.)

If the seems like the he might like Guitar Hero or Rock Band could be one.

If you are buying a system I'd say go for a PS2 alots of bang for buck. You get a new slim line pretty cheap and if you goto a used game store there are TONS of games.

For me there are really only two systems to choose from.

Wii
The Wii has a lot of fun that are unmatched as far as quality and offer play experiences you won't find on any other system.

Xbox 360
The Xbox has more of a "grown up" flavor with a variety of first person shooters and beautiful HD graphics. Xbox Live online play is unmatched by the competition.

gears of war 1 and 2
