Default Resident Evil 5 Collecters Edition

So, I picked it up for my 360.

I am the worlds biggest Resident Evil fan. I crave these games

I'm only like, 2-2, in the game.

What do y'all think?

I thought it was ok. Left 4 Dead is a much better multiplayer zombie-killing game. RE5 does look purty though. (Southern for 'graphics are nice') I think they could have improved the gameplay a bit-it takes like 10 headshots to kill just one, and you need to conserve ammo so it's quite a predicament.

Also dude, you spelled Collector's wrong.

I am with Disturbed on everything he said but I also have to add that I prefer the older look to the RE games. I own or have played and beat every RE game that has come out 100% and have many of the Japanese versions of each as well. RE 4 & 5 to me though are not Resident Evil (Biohazard) games because they lack any and all elements that made the RE series such a great game. The older games were made so that you couldn't kill everything in the game, you couldn't see what you were coming up on till it was on top of you, you were constantly opening doors, it had zombies and mutated monsters and more. It was designed to be a Survival Horror and the game play worked perfectly for it.

RE 4 had none of that and was a 3rd person shooter that didn't even have zombies or any classic monsters and it only had an illusion to Umbrella Corp. The new one is the same thing as 4 save for the fact they took out the constant supply of ammo and seemed to up the toughness of the enemies. The other problem with it is it is made for 2 (human player) co-op.

You can't play it by yourself because the AI is utter crap. The computer partner snatches up all the freaking ammo before you have a chance to get any, their ammo use to kill ratio is horrible, they don't share ammo very much, and they die way to quickly if you don't give them ammo. Also the game doesn't allow you to specify how much ammo to give them so if you give them handgun ammo then they get every bit of it that is in your inventory. Also the AI teammate doesn't have enough sense to retreat a few steps when getting overrun then they get into trouble which forces you to go into the thick of the crazies to save your partner. Another problem that Disturbed brought up is the fact you have to conserve ammo but the game forces you to kill most of the enemies which is quite a problem which you have to solve by punching the crazies over and over again until they die which takes forever. The ammo problem though is never really solved till you max out the weapon and beat the game once because then you get to buy the unlimited ammo upgrade which then makes this game as easy, if not easier, than 4 especially if you max out every weapon because then you get access to the minigun w/ infinite ammo which slaughters any and all things.

For me these newer RE games are not as much fun and are trying to hard to become action/adventure 3rd person shooters which may or may not increase their fan base to people who like those kinds of games but they really need to get back to the core elements from the originals which made RE one of the most beloved Survival Horror games ever made. Me I would rather play the old RE games like 2 & 3 then play the newer ones. Funny that I have played all the older ones countless times but once I beat RE 4 I have never picked it back up again.

I can actually beat RE 1, 2, 3, and Code Veronica each in under 2 hours and the rest of the series in under 3 all without dying and all without saving because that his how well I know the games and how much I have played them.

I did forget to ask lolcat, did you play and beat RE 2's special missions with Hunk and more specifically the one with Tofu?

Also how many of the RE series have you played, beat and with what percentage of completion, own, ect?

Me personally I own a gamecube, playstation 2, xbox, xbox 360, wii, and a ps3 so all the games are available to me. I am just curious because you claim to be the "biggest RE fan in the world" and I am pretty sure that I take that title .

Also to any and all RE fans they are remaking what appears to be RE 2 as a 2 player arcade shooter for the Wii. It is called Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles. I have seen a trailer for it and you play through what appears to be RE 2 as the 2 heroes from the game Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy. The trailer shows the car crash from the beginning of RE 2 and all the zombies from the cut scene that appear to eat Leon. Clarie then comes up to warn him there are some behind him and then it flashes through many of the iconic sections from the streets of RE 2 such as the basketball court, the police station, and the bar. It even features Leon and Claire in their original RE 2 outfits. Oh the nerd in me is just so excited about this one.

I have to agree with Fadeout that RE4 lost its spark. It stopped being a survival horror game and switched to being an action game. I can't say I've followed the plot of all games closely (still - I've played RE1-3 on PSX or PC), but the whole idea of getting rid of classical zombies and replacing them with virus-infected peasants was more than enough for me not to finish the game. Don't get me wrong, I think I've advanced far in the game (been to the castle), but somewhere along the way I've lost interest. It never happened to me before and I could replay RE1-3 if I only had the time.

To be honest RE5 looks like RE4 on drugs. More details but they were too lazy to change small things like the way your foes are holding their melee weapons. If you compare two games you'll notice that the animation is almost the same. I didn't play the game myself so I can only guess that the steering is the same. I have to say it made me furious in RE4. I wanted to play it on my computer and I just couldn't use the keyboard, because they've messed up the steering so badly. It was much more playable on a PSX joypad but still you would expect from an action game to allow the player to move and fight at the same time... It was fine in RE1-3, but an awful idea for a 3D TPP shooter.

I own Resident Evil 4 on the Nintendo Wii. Even though this was pretty much just a port of the Gamecube game the new Wii controls make a huge difference.

With RE5 it's really hard for me to re adjust to the downgraded control. I know on the Wii the visuals wouldn't be as impressive but I wish RE5 came out on Wii instead of Xbox 360 and PS3.

Apparently you didn't make it far enough as they are not "Virus infected" they are symbiote/Parasite infected. The illusion for 4 was that the remnants of Umbrella Corp were seeking it as an alternative to the T, G, TG, Veronica virus.

Yeah I've used the wrong word, because I did encounter a lot of them "opening up" to me with their parasite forms after shooting them a few times Too much for my taste. I prefer zombies in one form - slow & stupid. I don't mind having to defeat bosses on occasion. I particularly enjoyed Nemesis encounters in RE3 and all the bosses I've encountered in RE4 were OK (my favorite is the blind one). But having to go against smart foes (smart enough to use weapons, to run, to avoid obstacles and to surprise the player) all the time is not what I've expected.

I love Resident Evil 5's co-op mode; it takes a game that I loved and allows me to play it with my best friends at will. I think that was the real purpose of the retooling.. because the AI on single player mode is essentially a handicap.

Agree though, that the older versions like RE 2 & 3 are near and dear to me as well.

By the way, has anyone played co-op using a single console? I've heard that a weird split-screen is applied. Will I be able to play with a friend using a 22-inch LCD?
