What annoys you more in a game? For me there are many instances like:
-when you play a strategy game and the camera switches to some other place of the map in order to show you something (enemy troops appearing). You are in the middle of a siege and the damn thing shows you some other area of the map, it's a scripted thing, but still annoying as the battle goes on without your control. Also in some RPG's, a scripted event goes on, while the fight continues. You attack some enemy group with your characters, the script kicks in, there is an NPC or PC appearing on the screen talking and talking and you are forced to click quickly whithout reading it first, because you hear the combat going on and your characters getting hit. Some of the games avoid this by pausing, but there are some that aren't (Kotor, NWN2-I think-, the Witcher).
I'll add more later.
-THE CLICHE!!!The obligatory sewer level, ice/fire level, amnesiac PC that happens!!(OMG just, you know, it happens, lol) to be....wait....THE HEROOOOOO!!!!Wow!Could you imagine that? You wake up in a morning and, what do you know, you are mightier than an empire, quicker than lightning, just like that.Despite your age you understand things that wizened old (OOOOLD like, 600 years old) wizards and sages couldn't.You master the Force at 4 years old, when people need a lifetime. You defeat single handedly a whole army of darkness, that even the empire's army couldn't (despite the fact that most soldiers from sayed army could defeat you in combat easily). And also the elves and dwarves, the Great Elder races, if they could only see further than their petty unending wars and help you.The sure are dumb, those people, with their hundreds of years of lifespan. That goes into the next thing that annoys me.
How is it that you are also smarter than everybody else? You start as a nobody, but you make peace between the dwarves and the elves, you do things that even the heroes of those races couldn't...Could you not be, even once, a simple person that becomes traped into those events and it doesn't save the world, but try to survive and maybe help the real heroes?I can lie to my brain that this is reasonable and logical only for a while before I stop listening to the plot and focus on the main missions, whitout reading to hear how the queen/king/overlord of the elves/dwarves/undead listen to a human for their first time in eons, and agree to give you the magical artefact/make peace/dance in pink tootoos in public...
What annoys me? In most first person shooters your bigger guns take up a lot of the screen blocking your view of the game screen and creating a huge blind spot.
Also hollow racing games with nothing going on besides decent graphics.
I also hate when sequels come out and don't have features or gameplay that was offered in the previous installment. Grand Theft Auto IV comes to mind...
Non skippable FMV. I like FMV sequences in games. But when you dies right after one and it continues right before it and you have to watch it several times it gets old. Or when one starts you can't pause don't want miss something but have to take a leak. And it seems that's when they have an extra long one too.
One of the most annoying things to me is how in action games the NPCs are whiny little babies. How you are in the thick of the mess and the rest are yelling "we are going to die" or something similar. I also hate when it is storylined scripted that you must leave a battle or die. I am not talking about like a cutscene that shows a you running but like in Ace Combat 6 at the end of a mission they say it is getting to hot and you must withdraw. I can sit there and kill things without ever getting hit but after a certain time period the game fails you for failure to withdraw.
The other thing I hate is protect missions and the NPC you are protecting runs away constantly and not in the good direction. They always run toward enemies or run somewhere stupid that makes it harder for you to get them out. One of the reasons I liked Army of Two so much is nobody ran. They allowed you to pick them up or you knocked them out and then moved them.

What about moron NPC like in the 1st Socom. Hey we are getting shot I'm gonna jump and run around.
Two things:
1) BUGS, glitches etc. It's becoming worse every year on the PC market and that's one of the main reasons why I want to purchase an Xbox - I don't want to play games that weren't tested well enough before the premiere.
1) Lack of quicksaves in new games. I think it should be entirely up to me how I want to play and how often do I want to save the game.

I can tell you from experience the games still have quite a few glitches. Fable 2 was released with at lest 15 known game ending glitches that forced players to restart at least 40 hours worth of work. I will say that most games don't have these game ending glitches though and the few minor ones people run into can be reported. If enough people encounter the known glitches a patch is made and then the next time you are connected to Live and pop in the game it automatically downloads these patches. One bad side to this is the game glitches that allow for added money, inventory, ect that gamers use to their advantage are also fixed and removed.
I know that some console games also have major glitches. Developers tend to show less interest in making ideal products, because nowadays almost every console is connected to the Internet. Still it's nothing compared to PC titles. RPG games are among the worst. For example, in Stalker: Clear Sky (sequel to Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl) there were so many bugs only a handful of people managed to complete the main quest. And the worst part about patching games is that almost every time a new patch requires the player to start over, because it won't "work" with old saves. :/ There are also tons of compatibility issues. Some games won't work with dual-core processors, ATI cards etc. The list goes on...
