What is your favourite pre xp (2003) game?

This may seem like a strange question to ask but I was talking to some people earlier today who believed that just because a game was old it couldn't compete with newer games in the quality of the storyline and game play.
So have I been left behind and is this the mindset of the modern gamer or are there still people who love older games such as half life 1 Quake 1/2 etc.

Battlefield 1942 was my big addiction on the PC way back when, and is still better online than most modern shooters!

well, i still play Rise of Nations and its expansion pack...
best RTS i think?

sometimes i still played Warcraft 3 and/or DoTA...
and mugen/neo geo emulator... love fighting games (SF, KOF)...

Desert Combat was awesome indeed! Better than BF:Vietnam and it was only a mod lol!

I remember playing the original Sims series back on my old PC. I think it's still the number 1 selling video game series of all time.
