Default So far, Grand Theft Auto IV might be the best GTA ever

I'll be honest: San Andreas bored me to death. I never finished it since all those open spaces made the game a little tedious, and the storyline wasn't to my liking either. So I just used cheats to play around.

But this game? Wow. The storyline's amaing, the gameplay's matured since the last one, and it feels like you can make your own fun again. I'm loving it so far. I'm at 40% now

GTA Vice City > GTA: SA > GTA IV

In my opinion the storyline in GTA IV sucked big time and there weren't enough side missions or other activities to keep my interested after finishing the main plot. Don't get me wrong - I've still spent a lot of time playing the game and enjoying a nicely made open world, but it was sooner than in San Andreas or Vice City when I got bored.

I have to agree, haven't played any of the Grand Thefts for a while, but I can barely remeber GTA IV. Still feel like I could walk into Vice City tomorrow and know my way around.

Yeah me too. And I would be thrilled if Rockstar would announce that the action of GTA V (confirmed that it's coming next summer) would take place in Vice City.

I think IV alienated most of its marginal fans tht it attracted back with S.A. They took the realism thing too far! I think they got the visual realsim just right in SA. But in IV, the sight was too realistic, therefore very boring and life-like, and not nearly enough map, and there werent enough fun 'things to do' outside the storylines.
For a franchise that earned its reputation for exciting levels of free roaming, it seemed to have lost sight of things with IV, sacrificing gameplay for realism.

I loved the huge open spaces of SA and its arcadey feel, one of my favorite games ever. But so is GTA IV. Different games, but both great

I found GTA IV was the best installation so far! The AI and detailing of the city was just euphoric, i mean come on!!!! Niko's abilities and interaction with his environment is just INSANE, i think a few seconds of GTA IV is worth a thousand words, (just make niko walk down a flight of steps).

I've said more than enough =)

I can't say anything about the first DLC just yet, but I'm waiting for the retail "Episodes from Liberty City" edition. Hope it's going to be a good filler before "Mafia II" comes out next year (and shows how a good gangster sandbox game should look and feel like
