I know its still at least a year before it comes out but eager to hear what others are saying about Star Wars the Old Republic.
Its going to be a fully voiced MMORPG. The trailer looks
amazing and so does the gameplay footage they have shown so far.
If you havent looked into it check this link. http://www.swtor.com/node

Nah, but you don't get rep from just any ol' post.
SW: TOR is going to be very special. Well I hope it is. They've been spending a lot of time on it, and they have to.
Whilst World of Warcraft's new account creations has lowered in the past year, they still hold the attention of many players. However, in saying that, when Age of Conan (AoC) was released, a good number of players quit WoW to give it a go until they found it to be crap ;P
If SW:ToR can just be polished enough upon release to hold players that little while longer, it might just become a challenger for WoW.
Of course, Blizzard are as aware as the rest of us on the TOR release and likely will release the next expansion (Cataclysms) at roughly the same time to lure players into the expansion instead of playing a whole new game.
Only time will tell, but I am looking forward tothe release of TOR

Well its now sounding like the new wow expansion will come out long before TOR
and truthfully I dont think its going to be enough to hold players. From the footage i have seen TOR is already at a better stage then Conan was when it came out and its not even in beta yet.
Im really hoping this sets a new bar for MMORPG's it certainly has the power to if its done right.
SW:tOR has a couple things going for it over some of the others. I see it less as AoC and more as the hype around Warhammer Online.
1) It's got a known and popular setting. That's what lured a lot of people to WHO in the beginning. In fact, this has an even bigger following than Games Workshop materials, so it's likely to draw a larger crowd of people to try it out. This is how Sony kept getting people to come to SW:Galaxies, even though the game sucked (both before and after the revamp). Throw the Star Wars name on something, and they will come.
2) It's being done by Bioware. I have yet to be disappointed by a Bioware product, they're known for quality RPG games, and already have experience with the Star Wars universe. As long as they don't skimp on their quality to meet release deadlines (like they did with KoTOR II), they should be good. Even then, it's much easier to update MMOs for missing material than single-player console games.
The main issue is to see how the gameplay goes. If they use a variant of the KoTOR system (which is just a variant of the D20 table-top system) then they should be fine. I'm sure people may dislike the Character-Storyline central style they've been discussing, but I for one love what's been said.

I believe another company did KOTOR 2.

Obsidian Entertainment did The second one Not Bioware. thats why it was such a buggy piece of crap.
the force be whit you... xD lol
