How do you connect an Xbox 360 controller to a Computer?

I just got a game and it says you can use an XBOX 360 and i was wondering if it is possible to do this with a wireless Xbox controller if i have the charging wire that uses the Usb. i plugged it in but it own't work. HELP!!! best answers goes to the Best answer that actually helps..

There is a windows xbox 360 controller. The only difference I think is it comes with a USB dongle.

Alrite mate, from what i can gather you made need one of these for a wireless controller:

- XBOX 360 Crossfire Wireless Gaming Receiver

This should pick up your wireless signal and allow you to sync with your PC. The charging cable for the wireless contoller wont work, its for charging only.
Otherwise if you have a normal controller with the cable you should be able to plug that into your USB port and get it to work with no additional cost.
