Yeah, I just saw it as well and I was surprised to find that the film was actually pretty good. There was a good amount of action, a decent story, and a pretty good performance from the actors. I'd recommend going to see it if you are interested in the story or if you're just in the mood for an action flick.
I concur. They set up a slightly alternate story line to seemingly make the jump to the war and sets up the reason that John Connor is the sole leader of the Resistance. Acting was phenomenal for an action film from everyone except Bale. He pulled his Batman voice way to much in the film and at really stupid intervals. He would talk away in a normal voice and then all of a sudden scream out something using his voice he used when he was the Dark Knight and just made most of his scenes laughable. I was really surprised by this movie and I liked how even though it was a alternate future somewhat they still kept it grounded in the original trilogy. For the fans Linda Hamilton lends her voice in the use of the tapes she made at the end of the first movie and a full CG version of Arnold as he looked in the original terminator are used.
I Loved it! I have never seen Sam Worthington and I have to say that he stole the thunder from Christian, as much as I love Christian. It's the kind of movie that you want to see on the big screen!I loved the scene in the helicopter in the beginning, It was sooo realistic, almost like you were actually in the airplane with Christian as it was going down, so much so that I had to look away for a second because it felt like I was in the plane at one point! I really do wish that there was more chemistry with Bryce and Christian but I suppose he wasn't there to be super emotional, anyway.Sam really took me by surprise because I started off ho-hum with him and quickly changed my mind. All in all, I will be going back to see it one more time because it really was action packed!
To be honest the whole situation about giving a TERMINATOR movie PG-13 category makes me wanna vommit. So far I've been able to boycott every similiar cinema release, including Max Payne and Die Hard 4.
Even with moments that deliberately drop the “Come with me if you want to live” and “I’ll be back” lines (yes, they both happen) this movie seems to be suffering from the same unquantifiable stigma that curse both Sequels and Prequels. This movie is technically both. Don’t hurt your head too much on that one.
As a sequel, we want a movie that leads us to the next part, showing us something new, something exciting, something kicking something’s ass. But then as a PREQUEL we are stabbed in the eye with the lack of threat. At one point in the movie Connor sums up the Terminator’s apparent mission by saying “Kill Kyle Reese, Reset the Future” and I had a glimmer of hope that something radical would happen and we would get to see a whole new evolution of the story. But we know that as long as there IS a story to tell that the eventual end (sending Reese back to save Sarah Connor and father John) will still happen. There is no suspense. I don’t fear for Reese’s or Connor’s life at all. And where they had lots of opportunity to make us care about other characters who’s fates are not already spelled out, they drop the ball.
I am not saying I wanted McG’s rumoured massacre ending to happen, but I would have liked to have shaken things up somehow. All in all, I was left underwhelmed, and the impressive designs and incredible action just didn’t make up for it.

Well that is a pretty stupid thing to do considering all the good reviews on here. I give it another good review. I thought is was very very good, lots of action, good storyline to continue where T3 left off. Much better than TDK, imo. PG-13 be damned, this is a good movie.

I'm not sure that I'd see the movie even if they gave it R rating. Seeing bike-Terminators and transmorphing-Terminators in the trailers made me wanna vommit, too. Guess I'm not into bluckbusters these days, since I haven't seen Transformers, The Day The Earth Stood Still or Star Trek. I'd choose great atmosphere, interesting plot and good casting over action and special effects any day.

Well, The Day the Earth Stood Still is nothing to get excited about, but you should definitely see Transformers and Star Trek...especially with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen right around the corner.

OK, let me ask you this - what's there to see in Transformers besides top notch special effects? Frankly I had enough after watching an extended trailer which probably showed all the high budget scenes. Oh, and I'm not fan of the toys.

Transformers was a decent action flick. Not anything especially great but a decent watch. Acting wasn't bad, story was ok, special effects blended well, a super hot girl who was meant to be nothing more than in skimpy clothing and have a bad girl feel to her, then a whole lot of action in it. As far as getting the history right it went very wrong. I have no respect for the film when they can't even get one of the most memorable characters right. Devastator went from being a 5 piece constructocon made up of construction vehicles that towered over all other transformers and was nearly impenetrable to most of the Ototbots and their weapons into a single tank that was no bigger and tougher than anyone else and died way to quickly. When you can't get an iconic character like that right you have no reason to make a film.
