I love how they just decided to throw Gambit into the mix....

The only reason I am looking forward to seeing this film in the slightest. I already know I am going to have to since my Dad wants to see it so I promised him I would take him. I'll see it for free so it is not like it will hurt me to watch it anyway. It will kill the comic nerd in me but Gambit looks like a character done right (at least his use of his power).

Watchmen was good, but I was disappointed with some of the stuff they changed or left out:

    - Rorschach doesn't eat any sugar cubes
    - They changed the story Rorschach tells about rescuing the kidnapped girl
    - They way the Comedian figures out Veidt's plan is not clear
    - They made the rape scene way more graphic then I remember it in the novel

Anyway, just minor annoyances that could have been avoided but I still loved the movie.

As for the Wolverine origins movie, I can tell by the trailer that it will suck ass. Any "good" Wolverine movie would need to be rated R and there's no way they will do that for fear of loosing money.

I was talking with a friend of mine who is a huge comic book nut (a guy who hated X-Men because Hugh Jackman was to short to play Wolverine kind of huge) and he to loved the Watchmen. Again same issues we had in which certain changes were ok for storyline purposes and other choices didn't translate well. We were also discussing the upcoming Wolverine and he was able to read the script and after reading it realized something that makes the story seem better: It isn't Wolverine's Origins. Now I am not talking about the fact that the story just seems completely wrong for that to be but all the elements and details of the story in the script are actually the telling of Deadpool's origins. So this new marvel movie is going to be Deadpool's origins as told from Wolverine's perspective.

I can tell any and all fans though that sadly the crazy, break the fourth wall, comedian type, crazy Deadpool does not exist in this movie. Apparently that version is only created at the very end of the film . Now this news makes the original trailer fit better for what characters show up which makes the story line seem better now but is disappointing because Deadpool is not going to be the beloved classic joking assassin which means we don't get to hear about the thought bubbles.

It's a sign o' the times that all references to smoking were removed. In the book of course Lauries smoking and attempts to withdraw, echoes Dan's addiction to his Nite Owl persona.

Bottom line is though it's too big a book to fit into a single movie. It's odd - there are some changes they made, which I think really work better - the way they simulate Dr Manhattans powers to destroy cities work better than the alien clone, fits what's gone before. Likewise using Dan to warn Ozymandius feels more natural.

Likewise there are things they kept in the movie, which I don't feel really work.
I had rather have a plain, russet-coated Captain, that knows what he fights for, and loves what he knows, than that which you call a Gentleman and is nothing else.

The movie was so good I'm going to read the book too. This is the best super hero movie I've ever seen. This movie gives the new batman a bitch slap. The dvd hits the stores for the gp Tuesday and its worth watching. Its not a feel good superhero movie, they are as messed up as we are.

Good review dude. I liked the movie, special effects and violence were both great. And the ending, damn, I loved it!

    Talking Loved it.

I read the Comic a long time ago so I was surprised by how accurate to my memory of it this movie was. after the let down of the x-man movies and how much they changed those i was glad to see that Hollywood has realized that us sci-fi movie and comic book geeks really do appreciate sticking to the stories and characters we love.
