    Default Monsters Vs Aliens

Susan is about to get married - when wouldn't you know it, she gets hit by a radioactive meteor, and turned into a giant [Attack of the 50ft Woman].

She's taken to a secret government compound, where other monsters are kept,
    • a fish-man (Creature from the Black Lagoon)
    • a half-man half-insect experiment gone wrong (The Fly)
    • a pile of blobby goo (The Blob)
    • a massive insect (Godzilla)

But when aliens attack - who ya gonna call?

    -----------------------

Thus is the premise of Dreamworks latest movie.

The price of admission gets you a fun movie, but not a great one. Story wise it's kind of just a rehash of movies you've seen. The characters as mentioned have their roots on other films.

The aliens when they attack have a War of the Worlds/Independence Day feel to them. The fight against the alien probe is very much like the end of The Incredibles. The end mothership very much like Independence Day.

It's like watching a riff of your favourite movies without anything new and original to define it as a movie in it's own right.

    Shame.
I had rather have a plain, russet-coated Captain, that knows what he fights for, and loves what he knows, than that which you call a Gentleman and is nothing else.

Did you watch this in 3D mate? The 3D effects have been one of the films big sells. In Australia anyway...

3D? No we watched the 2D.

Wasn't aware it was available in 3D. I know BOLT was in 3D, and they were charging extra for 3D as well.

I have a bit of an issue with 3D anyway. I've an eye condition in my left eye which means I'm partly blind. So 3D isn't gonna work. Heck even the real world is in 2D.

Thanks for reminding me of my shortcomings!

I imagined that the story would be kinda bad, I mean its a kids' film. All it is really supposed to do is have purdy colors, be kinda funny, and have a little bit of violence. I still may take my little sister to see it...and NOT in IMAX. I don't like 3D that much either, and I'll probably end up making fun of it.

I have terrible eyesight as well, but the newer 3D stuff doesn't bother me. The red/blue lenses used to give me a headache, but now that they've switched up the technique and the glasses come clear, i can enjoy it.

Coraline in 3D was great. So was My Bloody Valentine.

    Default Monsters vs. Aliens

This may be a kids movie and it may be full of morals but it is highly entertaining. Then again it might just be the immature side coming out of me.
