Watchmen star 'to play Krueger'

Actor Jackie Earle Haley signs up to play Freddy Krueger in a remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street film series, reports say.

Well, that's the first bit of good news from the upcoming film. I'm starting to look forward to it. I think that he would make an interesting Krueger. The only question I have about the film right now is this: Is Krueger going to be the joke-cracking, laughing-stock from the later films or will he be the darker version that freaked you out 20-or so years ago? I hope it's the latter, but who knows. All I want now is a peek at that screenplay!

The review is okay, but I'd much rather read it first-hand. From what I gather, it's going to focus on the story of Krueger before his death. They're also taking out all the comedy aspects, which can either be a good or bad thing, and keeping the words Freddy actually does speak to a minimum...So far, it sounds a lot like a very s***ty film I recently saw by the same company (Platinum Dunes)...Friday the 13th. Oh, well. It is what it is.
