Okay. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opened nationwide today. The film, as most of you know, is the sequel to the 2007 blockbuster, Transformers. Like its predecessor, Revenge of the Fallen was directed by Micheal Bay and stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. Basically, the film takes place a little while after the first one, with the Autobots eliminating the remaining Decepticons all across the world. The film's main character, Sam Witwicky, is about to go off to college when he discovers a piece of the All-Spark in some of his belongings. Upon touching the All-Spark, he begins seeing symbols that turn out to be directions to an ancient and powerful device with the ability to destroy the planet. Upon learning about this, the remaining Decepticons resurrect a fallen ally and take it upon themselves to hunt down Sam, take the information he has, and try to use it to find the device. It's up to Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots to stop them...if they can.
Okay, 'nuff summarizing. Time for the review. The story was decent. I got extremely tired of everyone dieing off and coming back to life ten minutes later. One minute the dude's dead and gone, and the next, some magic powder brings him back to life? I mean, I'll buy that the All-Spark had the power to resurrect the Transformers, but when they start bringing humans back to life, I draw the line. Anyway, the special effects were amazing, of course, and the acting wasn't bad. The actual screenplay was actually pretty good, mixing just enough comedic moments to counteract the drama and compliment the action sequences, so that's a plus. Speaking of the action, it's what you'd expect from a Micheal Bay film...lots of 'splosions.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was a pretty good flick, but the first one was a much, much, much better film. With that said, I would still recommend going to see it sometime soon. It's a pretty good action film, but if you haven't seen the first one, you will be slightly confused with the story. So, see Transformers first, then go check out Revenge of the Fallen. I give the film a 7.7/10...because watching dogs humping is always a rewarding experience...for someone.

I don't know anything about the history of transformers. I did enjoy the first movie, for the most part, but thought the fight scenes were extremely hard to follow. From the trailer I've seen, it looks like the've pulled the camera back a little, and slowed it down just a fraction, enough to make the fighting understandable. I can dig that.
I hate Micheal Bay's close up and frantic directing style. I'm going to get dragged to this by my brother sometime in the next couple weeks. I really hope the scenes are a little less busy.

I watched this and it was awful. The ONLY good thing was looking at the new girl and Fox. The pace was so fast in parts I needed a sea sick pill. The writing was WORSE than a something on the Disney channel. But that sweet hot Megan Fox is so pretty its beyond words. WOW what a woman. Also the wife said look around you are the oldest man in here, a nice little kick.
The girls Megan Fox and Isabel Lucas are both really nice to look at. It is a bit of a stretch to think either one of them would give Shia LaBeouf the time of day, but movies are for suspending your belief in reality, and Isabel had ulterior motives for her interests.
The fight scenes (just like the first one) were way too chaotic to follow for me in general. Other than Optimus Prime and Bumblebee I could rarely figure out who was who. Maybe I just don't pay enough attention.
While I don't know the real story line nearly as well as others (thanks for the summary), I can say that I found them bringing Megatron back to be really annoying. The whole scene where the decepticons find out the 'super secret' site he is hidden and the 'super secret' location of a piece of the AllSpark was ridiculous and insulting. It was like they decided that they needed to explain that part of the storyline but they only had 30 seconds to do it in.
On the positive side, the special effects were really very good, and there were some funny parts.
All in all, I don't regret that I saw the movie, but I do think that Star Trek was much, much better.
Not sure if some of the earlier posters saw the same film as I did, but this movie was HORRIBLE. Understand, it's not that I was expecting a lot or couldn't shut my brain off. I own some of bad movies on DVD and enjoy them (AVP series, Daredevil & Elektra, Ultraviolet, etc.); but this movie had to be one of the worst films I have seen in a while (maybe since Mortal Kombat 2?).
1) The direction was crap. It felt like they included 20 different styles and films in one movie. One second you've got typical Michael Bay sci-fi action, the next you have National Lampoon's comedy, then you're suddenly in some slow-mo dramatic Pearl Harbor sequence. Pick one directing and movie style and stick to it!
2) The comedy was inappropriate. I'm all for humor in the middle of a summer action blockbuster (re: ID4), but not a bunch of childish bathroom humor from alien robots. In the first movie, these robots were scary and cool; this sequal made them the butt of too many jokes (no pun intended). Robots farting, humping, or shooting stuff out of their schlongs? If I wanted that, I'd replay an episode of Robot Chicken.
3) The editing was crap. The fight sequences were a mish-mash of parts, and you couldn't even tell which Decepticon was which. The links between different scenes didn't match up, so one second you're watching people fleeing in a car, the next one of them is on foot. Ummm... did we miss a scene on the cutting floor somewhere?
4) The portrayal of the Transformers matched neither the cartoons/comics nor the original movie. Optimus Prime is the "Captain America" of the Transformers, doing right and shunning wrong, yet in the first few moments of the movie he guns down a helpless target with some Steven Segal like remarks! Megatron is kow-towing to some crippled old proto-Decepticon and doing his bidding? Get real... I don't mind taking a new look at the characters, but this isn't even matching the first movie. The Decepticons were scary, growling aliens that seemed inhuman and evil. In this movie they were a bunch of nameless robots that acted like stupid cannon fodder or slavering cowards.
Over-all, I give this movie a 2 out of 10. It gets those points for: A) Some enjoyable action sequences (and still good special effects) and B) Hot chicks in skimpy clothing. Other than that watching this was like sitting through the worst parts of Ang Lee's Hulk, X-Men 3, and Spider-Man 3 rolled into one... and then directed by Uwe Boll.
The only good thing about this is that I'll actually watch G.I. Joe now, because I know it can't be as bad... even if they're gonna be running around in Master Chief's armor.
I really don't think this movie is as bad as people are saying. Alright, it's not great. At all. But it has SOME entertainment value. The main problem with this movie is it just drags on too much. I can think of at least 40 minutes of scenes that could have been chopped off. The desert battle scene was cool but i mean, it's in a desert. No matter what you do, it won't be as spectacular as the city battle of the first one. If you're trying to do an epic battle scene with lots of scenery blowing up, the desert isn't the place to do it. Oh and the immature sex humor has to go. I was sitting behind a group of kids, no older than 5 and I'd hate to be the dad in that situation. That kind of stuff just doesn't belong in Transformers. I'd give it a 5/10.
