Default Wolverine's Ryan Reynolds Dives in for Deadpool Spinoff

Wolverine's Ryan Reynolds Dives in for Deadpool Spinoff
Today 8:34 AM PDT by Josh Grossberg

    Twentieth Century Fox

It's official: The mutants are taking over Hollywood. And we're not talking about the freaks running the studios.

Following the monster weekend for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and a day after announcing that a Hugh Jackman-powered sequel is in the works, 20th Century Fox has confirmed to E! News that Jackman's costar Ryan Reynolds will be given his own spinoff and potential franchise-launcher as the Marvel Comics antihero Deadpool.

The 32-year-old Canadian actor, otherwise known as Mr. Scarlett Johansson, will again star as Wade Wilson, a wisecracking, cancer-stricken mercenary who's cured of the disease after undergoing the same Weapon X genetic alteration as Wolverine.

But along with superhuman powers, enhanced strength and self-regenerating healing powers, the slightly unhinged Deadpool can absorb the abilities of dead and captured mutants.

Aside from Deadpool and the Wolverine sequel, Fox is also working on an X-Men spinoff focusing on Ian McKellen's villainous Magneto and another dubbed X-Men: First Class, which is being written by The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz.

NO NO NO!!!!! Dead Pool can not absorb other people's powers. Some idiot writer has been watching to much Heroes. Leave the Sylaresk character out of it and focus on Dead Pool as he was. I mean the guy didn't need anymore powers. His ability to teleport and regenerate instantly to the point he could never die was all the powers he needed to get through anything. Hollywood quit ruining beloved characters. Either do them right or leave them alone!!!!

Marvel quit selling out to Hollywood. Make them do it right or don't give them the rights!!!!

Hmmm generally someone who can absorb and have any power, is typically a "villain" character.
I had rather have a plain, russet-coated Captain, that knows what he fights for, and loves what he knows, than that which you call a Gentleman and is nothing else.

Is it possible the article gets it wrong and this Deadpool will not actually be absorbing anyone's powers? Maybe Fox is spinning off the Easter Egg ending rather than the Weapon XI/'Deadpool' incarnation from 'Wolverine'.

Comingsoon says Fox IS spinning off the Easter Egg, for Deadpool and Wolverine 2.

    UPDATE: Deadpool Spin-Off Moving Forward
    Source:The Hollywood Reporter

UPDATE: A source close to Fox tells us that the Deadpool and second "Wolverine" movies are coming from the two Easter Eggs at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine:

"We are developing a spinoff with Deadpool, as well. It is one of the two different "Easter egg" scenes after the credits of WOLVERINE and hints at two different movies that are coming FROM THEM. One is the Japan backstory which was announced earlier, the other is about Deadpool. The film, which would be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel, has Ryan Reynolds attached and would be a complete exploration of this unique character - his origins, his emergence as the Merc with with the Mouth, etc. We are looking for writers as well."
