Cool Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Well, its finally here and its getting mixed reviews. I personally loved it, and I have read the book. Sure they left out some items but nothing to take away from the movie I thought. The movie really focused around the people and the humor in this one was, I think, the best its been. The characters are really coming into their own, and the story is really a big set up for the last two movies.(Deathly Hallows split into two movies) No BIG actions scene, in this one, and that was cut out at the end. I have to admit I would have loved to see that one, but I think that is what the franchise is building up to, a grand scale war. You see old friends and new ones, but Harry is getting older and has more of a grown up feel to him and more and more this movie franchise seems to be for a more older crowd. I know there are people that don't like book changing but its going to happen for time or just budget. With that in mind, the scenes that were cut from the book were fat, except the fight at the end, my only beef. You get the feel of all the old movies with him and the Weasley family, going to Hogwarts, Quiddich, and then the big finish. I really loved this one, and it probably is my favorite so far. I give this movie a 9.4 out of 10 and that is only because they didn't have the fight scene, other than that I thought it was perfect. Many will dispute me on this, and they are never happy with a book interp. into movie.

    Default disappointed

I finally went and saw this movie on Saturday evening. I must say I was disappointed with the effort. This was by far the worst of all of them. I really can't put my finger on the reason either. It was boring maybe or the story just wasn't told well (bad script). Perhaps the actors are getting to old for the parts.

A very disappointing movie. The changes made were stupid. The movie was choppy and hard to follow.

I've got to agree with the majority of the previous posters.

For me, this movie was the worst of the lot. I confess, I'm a purist, and I've read all the books more than once.

Having said that, I did enjoy some of the previous films, but the screenwriter and the director took too much "poetic license" on this movie, and with this storyline.

I understand completely that it is typically too expensive and takes way too much time on film to "literally" bring a story from book to film. Things have to be cut out...it's a fact of movie life; but to cut out so many critical plot points, and to then insert that made-up drivel that isn't found anywhere in the original storyline...in scene after scene...it just makes no sense???

I found myself wondering how J.K. Rowling could have approved such a re-telling of her story, and the only thing I could think of is that she just didn't care anymore. She's made her 1+ billion dollars off the franchise, why should she care that the fans are having to watch bastardized versions of her stories? I think she has just decided to let the producers, directors, and screenwiters do what they want to the storylilne, and fans and original plot points be damned.

They left out or cut out so many key points in this storyline, that you just have to wonder what the final two movies are going to look like. I mean it's like starting the next book with a third of the story already gone because the plot elements from the 6th book that lead up to them were left completely out of "Half-Blood Prince", the movie.

If you've never read the books, and you saw it in the theater, you would be entertained. It's not a complete waste of money, but if you are a fan, or even if you have read the books and have an expectation....you will leave the theater disappointed

whenever new movies come out i watch them twice, first time in comparison to the book in which case this one was defniately the worst one so far, then i watch it again as a stand alone film to see what its like when u forget the book and its alot better when u remove the comparison to the book
