I've got to agree with the majority of the previous posters.
For me, this movie was the worst of the lot. I confess, I'm a purist, and I've read all the books more than once.
Having said that, I did enjoy some of the previous films, but the screenwriter and the director took too much "poetic license" on this movie, and with this storyline.
I understand completely that it is typically too expensive and takes way too much time on film to "literally" bring a story from book to film. Things have to be cut out...it's a fact of movie life; but to cut out so many critical plot points, and to then insert that made-up drivel that isn't found anywhere in the original storyline...in scene after scene...it just makes no sense???
I found myself wondering how J.K. Rowling could have approved such a re-telling of her story, and the only thing I could think of is that she just didn't care anymore. She's made her 1+ billion dollars off the franchise, why should she care that the fans are having to watch bastardized versions of her stories? I think she has just decided to let the producers, directors, and screenwiters do what they want to the storylilne, and fans and original plot points be damned.
They left out or cut out so many key points in this storyline, that you just have to wonder what the final two movies are going to look like. I mean it's like starting the next book with a third of the story already gone because the plot elements from the 6th book that lead up to them were left completely out of "Half-Blood Prince", the movie.
If you've never read the books, and you saw it in the theater, you would be entertained. It's not a complete waste of money, but if you are a fan, or even if you have read the books and have an expectation....you will leave the theater disappointed
