In 1989 in New York, I had the chance to see some of the best concerts of all-time.
The Who - 4 nights at Giants Stadium (Best show and my favorite band)
Rolling Stones - 2 nights at Shea Stadium (Best stage ever)
Eric Clapton - Nassau Coliseum (Best musician, just him on stage destroying the guitar)
Pink Floyd - Nassau Coliseum (Best place to trip)
Mötley Crüe/Loudness, circa about 1986. They blew the doors off Madison Square Garden and fans cut open the seats and tossed the foam onto the stage. Pretty friggen wild time... from what I can remember.
Ozzy Ozbourne/Queensryche, circa about 1987-88. Ozzy drops down in a giant bat and the wings unfold to expose him sitting there, looking like, well, The Oz. Quuensryche was good, but better when I saw them with Iron Maiden at Radio City on their, Powerslave Tour. Awesome.
Tool, two years ago at the Richmond Collessium. I'm 23 year old, 200 pound ex highschool football player... But I wept. Might have been the concession stand booze, but I think It was mostly the Tool.
Please come back soon, guys.

I was at those 2, also saw U2, 7th row, at Giants Stadium, but the best I remember (key word!) was Jethro Tull at Madison Square Garden in the early 80s.......everything was on that night......

I used to go to a lot of live concerts at University.
I'm getting back into the habbit of listening and seeking out new music, though I tend to seek out what's local over looking for the big bands. Or perhaps I'm just a cheapskate!
I remember House of Love 1990 being an absolutely memorable band. Though I look back on their songs and think they were a wee bit pretensious at times.
I recently went to see Fairport Convention with a friend - a wonderful folk rock band, but they are way off their prime now.

It's hard to pick an overall favourite as I have been to some absolutely amazing gigs over the years but if I had to pick one, this would be it: A couple of years ago I caught Sonic Youth - one of my all time favourite bands - play their seminal album 'Daydream Nation' live in its entirity at the Roundhouse in Camden. It was an almost religious experience for myself and one that Sonic Youth say they won't ever be repeating.
Seeing My Bloody Valentine in Manchester last year was incredible, they played 'You Made Me Realise' as their last song complete with a 20 minute 'holocaust' section which is the aural equivilent of sticking your head in a jet engine. The following day I saw Radiohead at the LCCC which was mindblowingly awesome.
Voodoo Music Fest 2004 in New Orleans for me. I saw, in order, The Pixies, Sonic Youth, Green Day, and the Beastie Boys. It was awesome. I would have loved to catch Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation" set but couldn't get off of work to go.
I've seen the John Butler Trio 6 times and they are fantastic. Really fun and upbeat, with a lot of great songs that are not only great to bop along to but are also great to watch and appreciate as a fellow guitarist. They also change up all the songs, adding in extra solo's, different beats and basically just making them a whole lot better.
I have also seen U2 at their Telstra Dome/Etihad Stadium concert, which was fantastic. However I think Coldplay was better at their Rod Laver concert. I went there expecting a good concert but was blown away. They are amazing live and Chris Martin really knows how to entertain a crowd.
