Loquat. Bjork-ish. But just a bit more guitar driven.

Well I thought about this because I have a lot of music that few in my area have ever heard of and I thought it would be interesting to see what bands people listen to that are, how should we say, out of the ordinary. Thought this might be a good way to get people who have same interest in certain bands talking to each other.
OK I will start:
For me the band that few have heard that I listen to is Dos Gringos.
Also it isn't really a band but Filk Music is another type that I am really interested in which includes many small home bands that make up songs based on science fiction & science fiction shows.
For those of you who would like to hear one that is really good, especially if you are a Firefly / Serenity Fan check this one out: YouTube - Mal's Song - HD Widescreen

Think for yourself. Question authority.

Loquat, niceSounds a bit like Aimee Duffy. YouTube - Aimee Duffy - Rock Ferry
"Decemberadio" is a great band not well-known. Sort of a Black Crowes slash "Rock and Roll Jesus Kid Rock" type of a sound.
YouTube - DecembeRadio - Satisfy Me
Pepper
Jason Mraz - "I'm Yours", Ryan Hiraoka - "Every Girl", and a Hawaiin named "IZ" Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - "White Sandy Beach".
I was in Hawaii in September and heard all these guys for the first time, they are all great mellow tunes. Jason Mraz was even on Saturday Night Live recently. Check out these 3 songs (1 by each)
I think there should be a rule: comment on the previous poster, or else their post of an anonymous band will remain anonymous. Plus, if possible, there should be a youtube or other link to the song or band mentioned.

Hey X. This is just a thread to list bands that you have heard that nobody around you have heard of or listen to. I think if you can provide a link from youtube then do so if not don't worry about it after all some bands may not be on youtube. Also if one has never heard bands listed here yet then you may not know them so I don't necessarily think a person has to comment on someone's previous post. This is after all the "out of the ordinary bands" so don't forget that people may never have heard of them and so not be able to comment on them. A link could allow people to hear your weird music and if someone wanted to they could make a like/dislike comment but I don't believe it is necessary.
Pepper is a decent band however their songs are not really that complex and some sort of get on my nerves because of how repetitive some are much like that Aguilera b-a-n-a-n-a-s.
And if anyone cares here is a link to some Dos Gringos who are in military service and so their songs revolve around military and military jargon. Also be fair warned their songs use a lot of "intensive" language.

Well as far as the slightly less mainstream bands go your looking at a massive Sigur Rós fan right here

Can't search for Youtube links from work but if you goto Youtube and search for Sigur Ros "Hoppípolla" you'll probably recognise one of their more famous tunes.
This one might work

the new band i like some of my friends have heard of is paramore they are such a great band. im glad to hear more rock is coming back.
also a band im telling people about is rilo kiley.
I had been listening to the band Evans Blue and actually saw them in concert a few years ago. Their debut album was awesome, but their second album wasn't quite as good.
Unfortunately, last year, the band fired their lead singer, which to me was the big draw to their music. Since then, the band still has the 'Evans Blue' musical sound, but with their new vocalist they sound like every other alternative rock band out today. The lead singer has some side projects and while I still enjoy his vocal work, the music of the bands he is with simply aren't as good.
Also, though this forum seems to be a lot different, I've met very few people around the area that I live that either a) like Radiohead, or b) knows any music by them (except maybe 'creep').
Carbon Leaf. I just saw them in concert a few days ago. Here is the new song from their 6th album:

look for zdob and zdub....and tell me what do you think
I'd recommend The Temper Trap. They're from Melbourne, are fantastic live, and describe their style as "High Energy Sissy Rock".
Here's one of their singles; Science of Fear.

I also recommend checking out Sweet Disposition.
As for Zdob and Zdub, they're good. Pretty catchy and I remember them from Eurovision as they played one of the few listenable songs Eurovision offers.
Been listening to The Rifles recently.
they've been on Soccer Am a few times and do the usual festivals but dont seem to get a lot of air play etc.
Don't know many people that listen to them or are big fans
I've actually heard of The Rifles. I caught them one time on Mojo's London Live and like them. It is such a shame that great bands don't get as much air time as they deserve.
Anyways, as for me, here are some bands I've been listening to that many may not really know:
Hotpress for Leopold - Great band with a refreshing, unique sound and catchy tunes. They keep my feet tapping. Fave song has to be "Torturer" - it's so good! Love everything about it - the beat, the tunes, the whole vibe.

HUMANLAB - Local band with a beach vibe. Perfect for summer listening while cruising down the highway with the windows down. Absolutely love their song, "Praises" - it's just so laid back and makes me want to just chill.

Definitely check them out!
