Unlike many other sites, Full Membership at Newsgab is not achieved by spamming the forums with loads of posts. Neither do a few admins have the say over who should or should not access certain forums.
Full membership is awarded when you gain the
reputation as a good poster here at Newsgab.
Reputation can be awarded by any member* and can be awarded for any of your posts. This way the whole community can get involved with awarding those who take the time to contribute to our community with quality content.
When you join Newsgab you are automatically awarded 10 reputation points. In order to progress to Full member Status you need to reach 100 reputation points.
Any member can 'approve' of another members post but the more distinguished the member is, the larger the increase in your own reputation score you will receive when this member approves of one of your posts.
A vote from a member by default will increase your reputation by 1 point.
However the amount of time the voting member has been a part of the community, their own post count and their own reputation level will all have an impact on the number of points awarded.
For example if an admin votes for one of your posts then this will increase your reputation level by 10 points. A vote from a full member will increase your reputation score more then a vote from a standard member etc.
So how do you approve someone's post and increase their reputation?
Well, when viewing a post you will see a small icon which looks like this

just above the users post count.
Click on this icon and you will be given the opportunity to approve someone's post.
Also, feel free to post a short note to the member to let them know what you thought of their post
*Please note, any member can select to approve your posts however members who have less then 30 posts or a reputation score of 20 or less will not have an impact on your overall reputation score. This is to ensure only members who contribute to the site can impact on the score of others.
Your reputation can go up as well as down.
As well as approving your posts, please be aware that members can also disapprove of your posts.
Therefore, keep in mind that posting a dupe , Spamming, flaming or being rude to other members may result in your reputation score going down.
If it goes under 100 then you will lose your Full Member Status so keep this in mind when posting.
We encourage members to use the reputation to award posts in any of our forums, so if a joke made you laugh or you liked one of the pictures posted then remember to take the time to thank the user by adding to their reputation.
You can view your current reputation level by logging into your User CP from the link at the top of every forum page
Happy posting, any questions then please post them in
this thread
