We were all 'noobs' at one time and had to go through the same things you're talking about....is it too much to ask for you to give before you receive? The idea behind it is to discourage leachers.......

We have many noobs who make it here. They started out just like you did, they followed all the rules, they don't complain about not getting rep, and they are doing just fine here. Post some pictures, making sure you follow the rules and do not post anything from the banned content list, and you might actually see your rep going back up. Most senior members of this site who see "please rep me" or variation of asking for rep interpret that as demanding access to the NSFW forum because you are basically telling people to rep you for your post.

Rep takes time to accumulate and 90% of the posts on this board don't get repped. You just post pictures build the community and as people see that you are a constant contributor of good posts then they are more likely to view your posts thus adding to your chances of getting rep.

So far you have yet to make one post that adheres to the sites rules and regulations. If you want to stay go start making some contributions to the site and quit posting in here trying to defend yourself because I can almost guarantee you will not win. Post because you want to share your pics with people not because you get rep for them. If you don't want to do that then as Head Monkey stated find another site because you really don't have a third option.

BTW the bottom line of Head Monkey's post is the mods and admins know people don't hand out negative rep without a reason which is rule breaking usually or really impolite comments and they don't want to hear (read) someone complaining when they have obviously been doing something wrong on the boards. Members are expected to read the rules within the faq and ask questions if they don't understand them. His other point was that you have made no other posts or replies outside of the celeb pic area which shows you are not interested in being part of the whole community, just part of it. Senior member participate mainly in the pic forum but we branch out to gaming, celeb news, current events, ect. We try and comment, build discussions, and stimulate the growth of the site.

I do sympathise slightly laked. I've only been here a few months myself, and the rules on this forum are slightly different to other forums. The major one being about not linking pictures from another site.

I fell foul of that one and got into trouble myself in my first couple of weeks. But persevere and this is a great site. The rule about downloading pictures and not linking them, is all to do with avoiding having the site responsible for "bandwidth theft" from another site. Something which some forums are taking responsibility for and others not so much.

Another issue is about uploading images which are belong and are fiercely guarded property of another site/magazine such as for instance the Sun's Page 3.

All these rules are put into place to stop the forum getting into trouble.

    -------------

On the issue of access to the Celebrity Pictures Not Suitable For Work.

You have to remember this is a forum, and not a site for just distributing naked pictures. The idea of limiting the access to this area is to avoid having people just join to view pictures.

It is undoubtably the most popular areas on the forum. If your interests are just in looking at naked women, there are much better sites out there tailored to that one need.

If you're interested in contributing, there are a lot of areas on site to have a look around. Comment is always encouraged.

I'm often to be found writing stuff for the Current Events area,

    Current Events

But you might find another area which suits you more.

But this is a forum, and in a forum, members are expected to create threads, read threads, respond to stories - not just look at the pictures!

Hope to see you around ...

Actually do you mean leaches there or letchers? I'm probably guilty of the second offense!

Guys, just as a side note. As the Monkey said our site is called Newsgab so the focus of our site is news.

To encourage our members to contribute in the areas where we'd like them to contribute we limit the number of rep points you can receive in the non news forums.

For example, if tjw61 was to give you a rep for a good picture posted, even though TJ's rep giving power is '24 points' the maximum your rep score could be incremented by would be 2 rep points.

If tjw61 gave you reps for a post made in one of our news forums (eg, gaming, movies, celebrity gossip) then you'll get the full 24 points of reputational loveliness.

Short story, if you want to see the pics then target your posting efforts in the none picture forums. This way you'll get to see the booty quicker.

    Cheers

You say be a part of the community, but the first reaction from some parts of the community is to diss new members.

I have not used bad or abusive language in any of my posts here in this thread. I have simply tried to demonstrate what it feels like to be a 'noob' on this forum. And its not a good feeling.
New members WILL be given a fair go, providing they are willing to READ and obey the site rules. Going thru your posts, it clearly shows that you did NOT read the rules prior to posting. Asking for rep points, posting banned content, and having poor titles are clearly outlined in the FAQ, which can be found at the top of every page.

It is also common courtesy to find out how the site works BEFORE you post. Walking in, assuming you know how the site works, and getting upset when you get into trouble is quite frankly, what anyone deserves who has that attitude. And this also applies to just about any forum site. And, while I think of it, ignorance is no excuse for breaking the rules either. Ignorance doesn't work when you get caught doing 100mph in a 50mph zone, and it won't work here.

Members only get "dissed" when they fail to read the rules. Courtesy breeds courtesy. You read and follow our rules, and members will be nice to you. If this concept is foreign to you (or any new members), then this site is not for you.

And as for using bad language, that was never the issue here. Your failure to find out how the site works before contributing is.

Me thinks that this thread will only go on and on, so it's up to you. If you are able be a part of this community and follow the rules, then you will be welcomed with open arms. However, if you think that we treat new members abhorrently, then I suggest that you move onto another site because this site is clearly not for you.

    Over to you.

Question: Which is worse: Ignorance or Apathy?
    Answer: I don't know, and I don't care...

[QUOTE=Head_Monkey;314467]And as for using bad language, that was never the issue here.[QUOTE]

Just to be clear, because I've been tentative about using profanity in any of my posts until the post I made in the joke forum earlier this morning. The FAQ doesn't say anything about how it isn't allowed that I have found, so I assumed it was cool, but I've been mostly careful (something might have slipped my mind. I have a bad mouth, it's a bad habit.) about the language I've been using. Just testing the waters, y'know.

Like I said, this is just to be clear I can curse, right? Or can't I?

    Gracias.

Well, no one ever needs to curse, but if you're big on writing and composition like I am, than everything you do write becomes.... practice, I guess you could say. Language is a medium as malleable as painting or sculpting, and ideally, you want to be able to use every aspect of it. Like a painter wants to use a deep, angry red or soft blue. Profanity can be used for emphasis, or to lighten or highten a mood, to make your thoughts pop or just to be funny.

So, I don't really NEED to curse. But what if I wanted to, y'know?

I don't mind a "damn" or "shit" thrown out every once in awhile in rare cases to strongly emphasize something such as anger or dislike over a topic like the guy who sexually assaulted and impregnated that 9 year old, but I can tell you that I would most likely hand out negative rep if a person cursed to much or cursed just to curse when it wasn't needed.

I hate forums where replies are pretty much a whole bunch of cursing just because they can and half the time you know they are middle to high school students who think it is cool to curse. I especially hate the one line replies like "f---" or the hurtful comments that people make like calling a woman a "c--t". These comments are inappropriate, rude and not necessary. If you curse at all and I see those kind of comments you might just see some negative rep come your way for being rude and inappropriate.

Well, I wasn't trying to jump down anyone's throat. And don't. And won't. I'm not really asking about can I curse someone out, or can I call a specific person a specific explative. No Tommygun Effbombs, or snippy replies. That kind of thing annoys me too. I'm not really worried about reputation points, for the most part, but still it's not like that for me. Not trying to be "contreversial" or "look cool."

Like, in the joke forum. If "manhood" just isn't as funny as c*ck. Again, I sensor myself, because I don't know if I can or can't say a certain word in any context. See what I mean?

Well I can't say for sure but from what I have seen it is ok. Example by a mod: Why Dudes Should Be Banned From the Delivery Room

Anyway the inappropriateness is judged on individual posts differently depending on how things are used or what a person is trying to get across. The only things that have absolutely no leeway whatsoever are things clearly outlined in the rules (i.e. banned content being posts). Everything else is left up to the mods or Chief to decide if it needs to be removed. So say if you take personal offense to something or feel a comment is a personal attack then you report it to the mods. They then look at the post and decide if it is or if a person is just taking it to personal.

If you want a clear and straight answer though just pm Chief ask him the question put an example down like you did here and wait to here back from him.

Also I didn't mean for you to take any offense to the reply I made. You were not real specific on what you wanted to curse for and I just gave you my general feelings on cursing.

I rarely curse, but I don't see why not, except when it is hurtful or distasteful in a post. We're all adults here, we can handle it until someone is rude to the point of offensive.

And about posting, please do. Even on sites where everyone is the same going in, leechers are discouraged if they don't contribute anything. In fact, I saw one site where the owner actually deleted members who had been there older than a few months but they had no posts or replies. Remember, we won't give reps to replies, so post something of substance to get the necessary replies. (But please give comments anyway so we know our posts are appreciated!) 100 points isn't very much. That would be maybe 10 news stories and boom there ya go, full member. Easy as pie.

Oh, and welcome to the site all the new members, and don't forget to read the FAQ before the complaining begins.
