Well wouldn't it? The way we did it before, that way the new posts aren't crowded with all the new members? Not that I don't like to see new members; I definitely do, but it would make it less crowded and a bit more...tidy. Just a suggestion...
Also...what's a trackback...?
And last, before my time runs out, I think 5 minutes is too short a window for editing your post. I'd give it a full day at least. I've had to needlessly reply to my posts when i could have just edited the original.
Sorry to stuff this in the introduction section, it wasn't meant to be a long thing, I just thought of stuff as I typed it.

Chief decided to do things this way. Besides, how many times did you welcome the new guys in the old thread??? (I didn't do it that often myself, so I'm not being hypcritical...)

5 minutes before you are locked out, or 5 minutes to leave the edit window open before it times out?

Prolly should have been split into "Suggestions & Feedback", "Forum Software Updated" thread, and maybe "How the Hell Do I", but hey... who' counting???
EDIT: In fact, I am moving this to Suggestions and Feedback.
