NEW YORK. Kanye West says he will continue to use his public profile to fight against tyranny and evil men. The rapper, who stormed the stage at Sunday night's MTV Video Awards after Beyonce Knowles failed to win an award, said his social conscience had been awakened by the tragic injustice that occurred in New York.
West charged onto the stage and grabbed the microphone from the hands of 19-year-old winner, Taylor Swift prompting his agent, Franklins Franklin to say that the singer had felt really good after making a stand for something he believed in.
Franklin said West would now tackle other issues close to his heart. "Kanye wants Pamela Anderson to be respected for her work and he wants Paula Abdul reinstated as a judge on American Idol.
"These are important social issues that need to be championed," he said. "With Bob Geldof and Bono stretched beyond breaking point, Kanye took it upon himself to step into the void to tackle the issues that keep America awake at night."
Asked if West would continue to fight for his causes by shouting loudly and making a fool of himself, Franklin said he probably would.
"Kanye is all about the truth. And about noise. He is a champion of the idea that it's worse to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it."
He warned Americans to take West seriously. "If he can steal a microphone, and the spotlight, from a 17 year old girl, in front of auditorium of 10000 people, then imagine what he is capable of when nobody is looking."
He said West would strike down with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy his brothers.
Asked why he was quoting from Pulp Fiction, Franklin said he wasn't. "It's called sampling," he explained. "It's what we do in rap.
"Plus, it just a really cool line."
Meanwhile West denied his actions were an elaborate courtship ritual, designed to woo Beyonce. "That just wasn't the case," he said. "And if it was a courtship thing then I am sure R Kelly would have been up there on the stage with me, defending Taylor Swift."
He needs some Electroconvulsive therapy.
