I set mine up to suck in the from blow out the back.
Here come the jokes.![]()
I've got a stupid question ('coz I don't know the answer):
Is the fan in the back of the PC supposed to be sucking air into or blowing air out of the back of my PC??![]()
The reason I ask is, I had the power supply & fan replaced not too long ago and my confidence in the place I had the work done is not real high. The fan is now pretty noisy so I looked at the back just now to check it and noticed that it's sucking air into the PC. Is that right? Or, does it not really matter as long as it's working?
Kinda silly, I know, but I'm curious, Thanx!![]()

mine is set to suck in air to cool the hard drive down.......generally fans are pretty noisy anyways....so u shouldnt have to worry to much mate
The one in the front of my computer pulls air in, the one in the back, pulls it out.....as for noise, it can be bearings or just an inexpensive fan....you can upgrade it fairly cheaply and make your computer a little quieter.....you can buy case fans for probably less than $5 some even with lights in them....

Cool, thanx guys! So, basically it can go either way then. I wasn't sure if they'd put it in backwards and that was causing the noise.
I did open the case, checked the fan & tightened the screws & it seems to be a tad quiter now.

ifu have one going blowing either way......generally as a rule of thumb.....i recommend every month to take the case of and blow out the inerds.....alot of dust collects in there with or without a fan.....

im talking boyut the componets...not the fan dork.........but yea when u blow the fan it does whizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzz
damn tj, what race puter are you running ?
I'm running just a :
[root@localhost ~]# cat /proc/cpuinfo

vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
cpu family : 15
model : 47
model name : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+

bogomips : 4789.81

and I have only a fan @ the rear of the box and 1 @ on the CPU. The 2 ones are basics ones, and they're quiet. min temp for CPU is 30 °C and max 40 °C when I use it @ 100 %.
Well, I'm running linux, but dunno is there is an action on it ....
