Default AOL + Vista + memory deficiency

I want to pass along a fix I just did for a client. Acer laptop with Vista and 1gb of RAM. She couldn't get AOLvr to run.
I won't bore you with all the gory details and Vista bashin'. But to tell you that AOL would not connect due to a memory problem i.e. install more RAM. System has 1gb. I was second man in the hole.....well if you consider Geek Squad men then I guess I was 2nd. Sooo...I had to fix their crap first.
I'll give you the fix: AOL OpenRide. It has a small footprint, contains a connection management program so it can create a dial up account, and all was good. A different interface for my client but they got that AOL FIX!
One more thing. The reviews I read were not necessarily flattering but there is so much venom piled up against AOL that you cannot discern the truth from the bile. It worked for my client and I'll get paid.

I have an additional comment on my post. I had a XP box come in showing the exact same problem. I clean installed AOhelL 9.1 and had the low memory error. I found this fix and it worked. I always caution about fooling with the registry but.....

start | run then type this in the box and press enter

reg delete "hklm\software\america online" /v state

You will have a command prompt window open and ask if you want to delete this. Yes.

Hey it worked for me!
