When I play some games on my pc the "querydosdevice failed" message appears.Could someone help me solve this?It appears after a while, not when I start the program. One of those games is Sims 3 and the error appears when I acces the town map.It crashes into windows and I need to close the program with "end task".Sometimes I can keep playing, but many times I am forced to close the game. Why is that?

Are you running using a nocd crack or mounting an image? If so try using the original CD.

If you are using the cd does your drive have any trouble reading discs?

When it happens can you see your disc drive in my computer?

You should scan with your anti-virus and an anti spyware program if you haven't lately. I like Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

That could be it. The querydosdevice failed has to do with Windows trying to see the drive but can't. You could try email EA games maybe they will replace it. Only other thing I could say is try another version of the no-cd. It took a couple for one to work for me for my Sims 2. I only play it once in a while and didn't want to dig out the disc.

One other thing you could do is somehow obtain an image of a replica of the damaged disk and mount it on a virtual drive using a program such as Alcahol 52.

in these situastions i often find myself having to try mounting on more than one virtual drive program. Daemon Tools I think is still free, otherwise PowerIso and my personal favourite UltraIso (imo if a dodgy file is meant to work, this will open & extract it to its potential)

Daemon tools is free, however there are games that have some protection and if you are running it from a virtual drive they wont run so you actually need to cloak the virtual drive.

Unfortunatelly I don't have the link for that but i'm sure its easy to google it.
