Default UK Censorship

I notice that US shows such as Becker and 70s Show have words removed
when I watch them on Paramount Comedy and Virgin 1 in the UK.
Usually the words are just 'blanked' not 'bleeped'.
Is the censorship (which seems to remove the most innocent of words)
imposed by the UK TV companies or are the shows exported in this form?
Also has anyone viewed them in the US? And if so, are they censored there?

I don't know what would be edited. There's no swearing. Unless the UK doesn't like sexual innuendos, but there's really nothing to edit out.

Which is weird because when they reran The 12 eps of the British Office a few years ago on Comedy Central they edited out a few S and F words here and there and American shows are much more tame compared to how tame that show was.

For Becker that'd be mostly medical terms because he's a doctor.

I'm not exactly sure what is edited out (beacuse I don't hear it )
but it seem to be words like 'arse' or 'ass'. I have a holiday coming up
in April/May this year to Tennessee, so I'm going to try to catch
Becker or 2&half men or 70s show just to find out what's missing.

Since when does the UK not allow words like "ass" or "damn" on their shows? Like I said before, they allowed The British Office to have an occasional F or S word slip through uncontested.

I realise this, that why I was trying to find out if they are 'exported' like
this or the words are blanked by the UK broadcasters. Sometimes it's
tricky to understand the humour with the blanks.

Very rarely are shows bleeped or blanked out. Only if it's an F or S word, or sometimes for comic effect, but most times they don't need to.

I watched one today and the 'blanked' word HAD to be 'bitch'.
Somebody has gone way over the top with the censor button.
