Xfiles meets fringe.
The idea is great but the similarities between Fringe and the Xfiles are uncanny. you have female ( scully ) agent Myka Bering who does not want to be assigned to the warehouse and does not belive in the strange goings on. Then you have male ( mulder ) Agent Pete Lattimer who loves his new assignment. and is open to everything around him. but even tho it is has these similarities i found it to be quite funny and exciting so i hope it is not a one hit wonder |
X Files? Not likely. She believes in what is going on just as much but she is the detail analysis / voice of reason on the team. I actually found the series to be good at first, then it was ok by the third episode but after they discovered the "rebel" things took a nose dive. The sole focus on two characters works for tv shows but these characters are locked. They have not undergone any changes, any growing, or even been challenged by each other. They are flat characters built to be who they are and nothing more.
These flat, unchanging character makes the whole show boring after about 5 episodes and the story line for every episode is the same: People act weird / strange things happen, Warehouse picks up on it, two agents sent, they find out what causes it, have a minor climatic moment, get said artifact, return to Warehouse.
My opinion this show could have been one of Sci-Fi's better shows if it was a serial show. However they opted to make it more viewer friendly by creating an episodic show and just like any other episodic show you can't do much growing with it which makes it boring. Another show that fell into the same pitfall was Ghost Whisperer. Could have been better but by the time they realized people were bored with it and tried to tie in serial type story lines it was to late to save the show.
