Every forum I looked at I don't have rights to contribute. Is this a Catch-22?

I had the same problem for what it's worth. Posting in this forum seemed to remove my lurker status.

Do you mean by this that you weren't able to create a new post or reply to posts already made mate?

Actually scrap that, we had some permission issues on a large number of our forums mate which meant lurkers couldn't post. I've fixed this issue now so please let me know if you have any problems.
