Robeisy Carrazana Ramirez won Cuba's fifth gold medal of the 2012 Olympics after defeating Mongolia's Tugstsogt Nyambayar in the flyweight final.
The 18-year-old, who defeated British boxer Andrew Selby on the way to the final, led from the first round after winning it 6-5.
The second was scored even at 4-4, meaning the Cuban led by just one point going into the third and final round.
But Ramirez turned on the style in the final round to seal a 17-14 victory.
Losing semi-finalists Michael Conlan of Ireland and Misha Aloian of Russia took bronze.
