Thread: fake sex vs real sex

There have long been rumors (Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland in "Don't Look Now"), of movie actors having real sex while filming scenes. There have been oodles of fake sex scenes. Then, there have been a few "mainstream" movies ("Brownbunny") where the actors have indulged in real sex for the scene. Does this really add to the movie, or does it become an attraction all it's own and a distraction? Does viewing merely fake sex detract from our enjoyment?

kingman, simulated sex scenes have been used extensively in legitimate movies. But, the 'Brownbunny' scene is something very rarely scene in legit films. Years ago, 'Caligula' went very far and there are other examples.
I guess the directors are trying to both tantalize and excite, with 'fake' sex scenes.

In "Factory Girl", Hayden Christiansen and Sienna Miller had real sex. They were dating at the time, though.

In "Caligula" Peter O'Toole and Helen Mirren filmed their scenes, and then the movie ran out of money, so it was funded by Penthouse, and they added the porn later, unknown to the mainstream actors. Peter O'Toole even sued them and went on Johnny Carson telling everyone not to see the movie.

It would have to been in Last Tango in Paris. Don't know if it was real or not.

Halle Berry in Monster's Ball may not have been real, but if that was fake sex is like with her, I wonder what the........

somewhere on wikipedia is a movie list naming movies and if they contained real sex or simulated. Kind of interesting list to say the least, lol.

They forgot Factory Girl, Don't look Now, and Caligula.

Wow interesting site. I never knew there were so many movies with real sex. Along with big brother, the real world has shown quick clips of people having sex but without showing any nudity.
