Thread: Site infested again?

Is anyone on windows getting anti-virus alerts when they try to access the site? I'm running avast anti-virus 7 and vista, and whenever I go to the Newsgab homepage, it blocks the connection saying infected HTML script is trying to run. Sadly it doesn't say what script. All it says is http://www.newsgab.com/|>{gzip} blocked.

I don't get this on my linux box, so I'm guessing it's either an avast thing falsely detecting something, a general windows thing, or someone forgot to book the exterminators...

Feedback please.

I just put up a new system running the latest AVG stuff and Windows 7 home premium and it doesn't warn....but I'm also running FF 11.0 and the No-Script add-on So No-Script may be blocking it before it tries to load (whatever it is)

I don't have the no-script add-on running. I'll try the add-on and see how it goes. There are 5 non-newsgab sources that the site pulls data from, so perhaps one of them is trying to install the nastyness...

on this computer I'm running windows 7 home, norton and no messages with ie or ff.

So I installed No-script, and I still get blocked. FF12, Avast Free 7.0.1426, Vista Home Premium.

Oh well. Will just have to give-up on Newsgab until I can access it again from my windows box. Thanks anyway.

Do you get the issue every time mate or just randomly?

Been getting it since April 11 or so. But I can one up you. Got two computers one blocks the site the other doesn't the only difference one is WinXp the other Win7. Both running the same version of Avast both up to date. It started with the site not loading because of

added it to Ad block plus was fine for a while then got the gzip block.

I'm using FF 3.6.28. don't like the looks of the new FF.

Not both are blocking it. I have to disable gzip scan in real time scanning.

I get the warning/block every time I try to go to the website. It doesn't even attempt to load the page. All I get is a "connection reset" message in Firefox and in IE9. And I won't be disabling gzip scanning in Avast, so it does not look promising...

Although if it works in Win7, it might be targetting an exploit in XP/Vista...

My Win7 box also gets blocked now also.

Weird....I'm running 7 on 3 boxes...all with different anti virus....one has Panda, one Eset Nod and the other AVG free....none give me any pop-ups or block anything from this site...I almost always come in through Firefox, but am running different version on different PCs.....had a blocked site today from a MSN Trend site, but not from here.....weird....

Well something has changed, cause now I can access the site! Will make the most of it...

here's a different one...first post was on a 7 box running Eset.....this one a box running 7 and AVG....
