Default Suggestion for the "How to Title" sticky

Would there be any value to "bolding and italicizing the following text (see below) in this thread

Just asking, because with the number of new folks now actively wanting to participate (which is a great thing ) ...it seems that this piece may be getting overlooked somewhat

Updated with examples and reworded so that what is meant by a descriptive title is very clear. Courtesy of Fadeout001

Please be Descriptive in your Topic Titles and make sure to do a search before you post to avoid duplications. Try and paint a verbal picture of the images you are posting. this means putting the celebs full name, the name of the event/magazine/shoot/activity (such as out and about, walking, ect) if known, a description of clothing being worn (this tends to get left out for mags if they wear to many outfits but you should try to put it in if you can), and any other information you feel is relevant such as city/place/date. Avoid using simple terms like "best of" and don't use general terms like "in a bikini", "at the beach", "topless" on their own. You can use these general terms but use them in conjunction with all the required info. Try and always describe beach wear as it helps people when they search. Also do not be afraid to put "unknown" in the title. If you have pictures you know are from a mag/movie/photoshoot but don't know the name then put unknown in it.

So a bad title would be: "Lindsay Lohan out and about", "Hot Girl" "Paris Hiton in a bikini", "Jessica Simpson", "Alyssa Milnao topless", "Alyssa Milano Nude"

Good (acceptable) titles would be: "Jessica Alba in Maxim Magazine: (various outfits)", "Jennifer Garner (pink shirt and blue jeans) out and about", "Paris Hilton (pink bikini) on a beach", "Alyssa Milano (topless) on a beach", "Alyssa Milano (topless) in an unknown movie"

Great titles would be something like: "Britney Spears (light blue bikini) lounging on Miami beach", "Alyssa Milano (blue top and tight jeans) out and about NY on 3-15-09", "Carla Gugino (blue dress) walking on the streets of LA", "Alyssa Milano (topless) caps from Embrace of the Vampire", "Jessica Alba in Maxim Magazine February 2009: (Various outfits)"

Remember when creating a title to try and create a verbal image of what your pictures are showing. This means not putting a bunch of random images into one post. If they are wearing different clothes make a separated thread unless they are all part of a single photoshoot or magazine. Also make sure to post in the appropriate area which means no nudity outside the NSFW sections. For more details on what goes in the NSFW section vs. the Celebrity Explicit section look here: Where to Post images containing see through shots & nudity. NSFW vs. Explicit

Having once been seriously slapped for not quite following the above guidelines, I believe that posting rules/guidance should be made as idiot proof as possible.

It might also be worth including something which advises the member to not simply adopt what another has done, e.g. follow their example as the example may be a bad one, they do occasionally exist and is where I went wrong. The morale being: make sure that you know how to title and post correctly.

Just a guess but I'd say at least 70-80% of new members never read the rules.

Understood ...that's a given, and is pretty much the same with any community fourm or board across the 'net

...but what about the 20-30% who DO read them?

Newsgab isn't my first rodeo...I've been a member and fairly heavy poster under this name and others at some of the other major long-term celebrity forums that are out there...and one of the unique things about Newsgab is how we ask members to title and group their pics.

Don't get me wrong...I'm all for it, and I like it this way, but most other boards like and encourage "mega-posts" or posts with randomly grouped pics as long as the actress is the same. This translates to issues for us when someone who's willing to contribute (who might actually read through the rules ) moves here from another board

Just seemed like a relatively painless way to make that easier to see in that thread

We had this info in a sticky post but I guess it was lost in the update along with all the other sticky posts in the celeb forum. Still didn't do much good even when it was a sticky thread as nobody read it or followed it.
